Bert Sugar On Klitschko & Others

I don't respect "experts" that are stuck living in the past. Being a professional should require you to stay open minded with what is current as well as being respectful of the past. Sugar seems to be relying on his tired old stories and his corny one liners instead of objective analysis.Comment

That is a valid point, but it's also important that he has credibility by not crapping on everything in boxing now. He's not doing the sport any favors by saying everything happening in boxing currently is ****.Last edited by Scott9945; 02-27-2008, 08:43 PM.Comment

.....I love how Wlady gets gang ****d for one boring fight. I can think of lots of guys who have made a whole career out of **** boring fights. Wlad's future opponents will all pay a steep price for the **** talked about him in the Sultan fight.Comment

** Bert a favorite tired old punching bag.
Of course he runs tight with the NY centric boxing establishment and all his old running buddies a bunch of good ol' boy, ol' salt NYC/Jersey city boys. Hell, it's made him a good living and put him in the HOF, so there it is.
Interesting how he's made it, but the guy people associate as the voice of the 60s-80s, Howie Cosell is ignored. Didn't really know much about boxing, but sure made a broadcast dramatic. Down goes Frazier could almost be copyrighted it's such a signature and surely the consensus is that simply no other interviewer would do for Ali but Cosell if you had to pick.
Going back in time with the trouble prime Ali had against lefty Mildenberger, I suggest that prime Ali would be struggling bigtime if he had to face the likes of Sultan, Moorer, and Sanders at their bests. Does anyone even suggest that Wlad would even have a nanosecond's worth of trouble against Mildenberger, who was a pretty decent boxer and one of prime Ali's better opponents?
It's a new era in boxing for better and worse. Some good fights back when, but most of those fighters would have to relearn strategy and probably add more than a few lbs to be successful under today's conditions.
Cheerio now Bert, you're In Like Flint. But Damn, please, if you're gonna wave that cigar around, LIGHT IT UP and smoke than damn thing or at least poke it somewhere. C'mon now, man up!Last edited by LondonRingRules; 02-27-2008, 08:41 PM.Comment
