Lets hear opinions Boxing V.S MMA

What makes one better then the other?
What makes one not as exciting?

IMO boxing still has an edge, idk about yall but seeing to grown ass men rolling around for 12 minutes is not exciting to me.

The only argument from the MMA side is that it's "more complete". Basically suggesting that if it's not the best for street fighting without rules then, well, it's just not as good. I say who cares. I'd MUCH rather watch 2 of the very best in the world fight it out with only their fists then watching a couple of guys who are mediocre at an array of skills but to each their own I suppose.

Boxing is a long standing sport with a great history. It's an Olympic sport. It's also presented with class. MMA can't make this same claim.

I watch MMA because of the ground game and the finishes (submissions/KO's), one mistake may cost you the fight.

The stand up is usually just two guys swinging for it all which is exciting but not something you want to watch if you care about technique. There are good strikers too but in general it's just brawling.

It's like heavyweight boxing where one punch can end the fight, in MMA one bad move on the ground and your leg/arm/neck is caught in a submission.

The small gloves increase the amount of KO's, so you better keep your hands up standing.

      Some MMA submissions.

It's apples and oranges, the two can co-exist quite easily.

MMA is still in it's infancy but I think already it's popularity has made some impact on boxing - it has forced promoters into arranging superfights to compete for viewing audiences which is good for boxing fans.

I'm not to fond of MMA, men in tight shorts on top of each other just doesn't do it for me. I prefer fights where knockouts settle a match, the thrill of seeing someone tap to a submission just doesn't do it for me. That's my only gripe concerning MMA.

ONE MAJOR FACTOR that MMA has over Boxing right now....
The top fighters meet each other on REGULAR OCCASIONS!
                in 2007Boxing had a renaissance.....unfortunately if it doesn't last...
Don't get me Wrong Boxing is my sport.
But I can understand why MMA is gaining ground.
When the so called "P4P Champ" and Best Boxer on the planet refuses to fight Top Challengers and goes to the Theatrical WWE.....
                Surely you get my drift....

Apples and oranges.. What's better baseball or basketball? They're different. We will however see this thread started a million times over.
