The extremely powerful parries made me laugh

last night in the early rounds.

I think Wladimir did it solely to discourage the jab from Sultan, because he didn't use it to knock him off-balance for a counter right or anything like that.

Anyways, the tremendous amount of force that Klitschko was using to crush Ibragimov's right hand was cracking me the **** up.

    Anyone else?

I saw the fight live in the UK and i have to admit seeing a taller man slap down other with his palm gave me a few chuckles, I do find it strange though because i have never seen Wlad do that before.

Iggy's main weapon was his jab and that was Wlad's way of not letting Iggy get his jab off.

hey ray i was watching it on sky sports as well. Jim Watt seemed to think that those parries should of been penalised as they were illegal.... i dont know the rules regarding that so not really sure myself. Did you hear him talking about?

I know that... but it seriously looked like he was trying to hurt his hand by how hard he was doing it some of the time.

It just made me laugh, like, what the **** is the need for that?!?

            wlad always does that
granted not with as much force as last nite
but its somethin ive always found curious about him
more so that he gets away with it
            its gotta be illegal

thats what the british commentators were saying.... an open hand parry seems strange to be able to get away with it

Hi there, I heard him talk about it but everybody was quite unsure if it was legal or not, I really do find it funny and somehow strange when i saw the slapping down of the "jabs" because Iggy wasnt really throwing them but Wlad seem to slap it down just to land his right hand.

ibragimov doesent really throw a meaningful jab, he keeps his arm out to judge distance and harass his opponent. wlad was just doing it to frustrate him and probably to intimidate him at the same time.

this isnt a new move for wlad though either, just a different way of administering the tactic.

hes used it a lot in the past when guys cover up when theyre hurt, he will chop down with the left to split the gloves and find an opening for the right hand

                    i loved 'em.

when i saw wladimir do that, i turned to ne of my friends and said - "see, that's pi chuan."

of course, the usual basic way it is done is with that chopping hand having a bit more forward force and striking the face, neck, etc while the other hand depresses the opponents front arm. that is an extremely basic way of using it.

wlad was not trying to block a jab or hurt the guy's hand, but hurt sultan's upper arm or elbow joint so that he would have a tough time lifting his arm to jab or block. and the k bros have always done it, wk just used it a bit more the other day.

below: here is a different branch of my style demonstrating chopping/splitting fist. i've heard he is about mid level, but he seems to have decent power:
