Again Floyd already has a legacy and money to boot, so what is really the discussion? Why cant people just admit they want to see him lose. Does Cotto have better skills than Floyd? Is Cotto smarter in the ring than Floyd? If you answered no to both of these questions then Floyd should win right? But when people want him to fight the Wrights and other way bigger opponents, if they beat Floyd, its not because they are better but bigger, which shouldnt go down well with anyone.

Money, cause in the end...after you fall off or your career is over, nobody really cares about you anymore--fans are fickle, make that money to support yourself and your family

But Floyd was fighting for legacy when they were turning him down, when Floyd turns fighters down, they are looking for a payday.

EXACTLY!! Gatti put on many thrilling fights but at what cost, to be scrambled for the rest of his life? People remember his fights but who cares? It dont really matter its just memories.

                B. Basic knowledge that you'll lose and are fighting this fight to make bank and make your opponent look better (DLH-Gatti)

Those situations could be a determining factor. It really just depends on how you respond to the haters. Personally, if I was offered $15 million for a fight that I'd probably get criticized for, or $4 million for a fight that I can win and it will enhance my legacy I'd probably take the $4 million.
I would probably go the other way around and than go for the legacy fight. I can make a ton of cash and if I take the legacy fight and lose I could lose out on that enormous payday but if I go for the payday and lose I can still make some more legacy fights.

Boxers have a long and sad history of getting exploited and ending up in financial (and physical) ruin.

Joe Louis, Beau Jack, Iran Barkley, Ray Robinson, Bobby Chacon, etc.....The list goes on and on.

The boxers get no pension and usually don't have that much of an education to fall back on.

I don't blame them for going after the money. That's what people do at their jobs. How many jobs are safer (and provide pension plans) than boxing, and how many are more dangerous?

If they take a higher payday over a smaller fight I'd rather see, I'll get frustrated (i.e. Cotto and Mayweather would rather fight Oscar right now than each other), and it doesn't do wonders for their legacy, but I won't personally knock them.

Hell, Ray Robinson is widely considered the greatest fighter of all-time. What did he say about boxing?

"I never enjoyed boxing, it's just a business for me".

What did Willie Pep, a consensus choice as the greatest featherweight ever, say?

"My main objective is to make as much money and take the least amount of punishment as possible".

I'd try to build my legacy first then look for the big paydays.
