    LEGACY vs. GETTING PAID

I believe it was said best in the latest Rocky film, " Nowadays everybody wants a legacy. You know what you get instead of a legacy? PAID. "

I believe this is a quote that Money Mayweather lives by. So the question is, if you had to choose between a legacy making fight or a big money fight, what would you choose. Try to put yourself in the fighter's shoes on this one.

You said this in a thread, that wasnt enough? But to answer this, Id go with both. Boxing is the hurt business, trying to cement a bonafide legacy and not cementing a legacy in terms of finance for your family can be detrimental. In a business where medical insurance is not given to you, its better to consider your well being over trying to entertain a potato chip eater on his couch. Gatti thrilled many but at what cost? Besides Floyd has already cemented his legacy, name another fighter that has won a title in 5 weight classes and remain undefeated, with that said how can anyone say that isnt legacy right there.

I would go with the Legacy because you end up getting payed anyway and it will only lead to big money fights.
Mayweather style of business is disgraceful IMO, but if that's what works best for him then it's fine by me.
If History doesn't remember him as highly as it should then it will be no ones fault but his own.

When Floyd tried to fight guys they would all turn him down, you probably didnt know that.

It depends, I think, if you're offered $10 million for a fight that you have either:

            A. An easy chance of winning OR
            B. Basic knowledge that you'll lose and are fighting this fight to make bank and make your opponent look better (DLH-Gatti)

Those situations could be a determining factor. It really just depends on how you respond to the haters. Personally, if I was offered $15 million for a fight that I'd probably get criticized for, or $4 million for a fight that I can win and it will enhance my legacy I'd probably take the $4 million.

but if your a legend, your pretty much still gettin paid right? and your family would still probably have money, unless you cant manage money.
