It'd be a minor upset to me, not a major one.

If Hopkins beat Calzaghe where would that rank in an all time upsets list?

Calzaghe is now grossly overrated in the US, having been grossly underrated before. It's quite funny.
The Hopkins who fought Tarver beats Calzaghe down.
You're right though in believing that Hopkins can still beat Calzaghe. I can't actually believe that some folks here think that there is no chance for him. Though I firmly believe, even know, that Calzaghe would have beaten any version of Tarver. Don't underrate him.

What do you think the polls would have been for Baldomir-Judah a couple years ago? Or Donaire-Darchinyan last year?

Reid wasn't very good - flat-footed, head-down, slow-punched over-achiever who couldn't even beat a one-handed Calzaghe (though was robbed against a shot Ottke - but then who wasn't robbed against Ottke?). Whiner Vincenzo was a joker, and a 50-year-old Sugarboy put a schooling on him through doing his usual thing - cup his hands near his chin, slide back and forth and throw nothing but a long left jab and the occasional right hand, and an occasional snappy uppercut in a clinch, that's it.

If Hopkins beats Calzaghe, I will be more shocked than I was when Corrie Sanders took out Wladimir Klitschko, or when Vernon Forrest took out Shane Mosley, or when Ricardo Mayorga took out Vernon Forrest twice.

He also happens to have the best lead right hand in boxing history, and is a master against southpaws. And every time Joe falls short with his slappy flurries, Bernard will land a counter right hand because he's good - again, Lacy was too slow and Kessler too stiff.
Whoah, don't go overboard on Hopkins mate! His lead right is good, very good, but it ain't even close to being the best in history. There are fighters now that have better lead rights. Anyway, it will be a big weapon for him either way and could do some major damage to Calzaghe.

His skills against Sheika, Woodhall and Veit the first time were the best they ever were. Since then they've gradually eroded.
Still, he has lost a fair bit since those days even though he can still beat the top guys now. That just shows you though how good he was. He has lost considerable skills but is still beating the main guy at SMW who was undefeated and had beaten some good competition.

A 43 year old figher beats a guy 8 years younger who has never been beaten before and is one of the best pound 4 pound fighters in the world.....thats pretty crazy if it did happen.
