If Hopkins beat Calzaghe where would that rank in an all time upsets list?

Personally I think it's the other way round. Calzaghe squares up with his chin up and eats right hands, always has, but Lacy was too slow and Kessler was too stiff - Hopkins will reduce the output on movement alone. He also happens to have the best lead right hand in boxing history, and is a master against southpaws. And every time Joe falls short with his slappy flurries, Bernard will land a counter right hand because he's good - again, Lacy was too slow and Kessler too stiff.

^Thats cool that you think that, and I hope your right. But from what I've seen on here thats the opinion of the minority. But like I said I hope your right...I'd love to see Hopkins prove people wrong again.

I don't actually know when Calzaghe or Hopkins were in their primes, tbh, they both looked about the best in the world in both 1997 and 2006.
Yeah Hopkins looked pretty dominating against Tarver in 06, and not bad against Wright 6 months ago, IMO, even though it was an ugly fight.

Uh, most major lists still have Hopkins above him p4p, so what's your point?

All I'm saying is Calzaghe is expected to win, Hopkins is expected to lose. That seems to be the opinion of most boxing fans on here. If Hopkins was to win, he deserves alot of credit. Calzaghe is a top tier fighter, and there should be no welll..he this...welll actually...type excuses. And if your familiar with this forum and all boxing forums for that matter theres always some excuse to degrade a win...Whoever wins this fight deserves more respect and it helps either fighters legacy. This is a big fight for both fighters...

People are idiots, that's why. They rate Lacy and Kessler - I don't. Lacy has never been anything other than average outside of his KO of a completely shot Robin Reid (who wasn't even very good to begin with), and Kessler has never been anything other than average outside of his KO of a completely shot Markus Beyer (who wasn't even very good to begin with). Calzaghe is now grossly overrated in the US, having been grossly underrated before. It's quite funny.

The Hopkins who fought Tarver beats Calzaghe down.

It won't be an upset at all. It's going to be a close fight. Much closer than everyone thinks, I guarantee!

Hopkins is not an old fighter, not even close yet. He can still beat most 25 year old 'prime' fighters. I seriously think Calzaghe has lost more of his skills over the last few years than Hopkins has now.

I will actually be surprised if Calzaghe comes in as a large betting favourite. Considering what Hopkins has always done when he is a large underdog I hope that doesn't bode ill for Calzaghe.

It's going to be a very close and scrappy, ugly fight that could go either way. I just hope Calzaghe trains harder for this fight any other fight he has ever trained for because if he underestimates Hopkins in any way, shape or form he will get a big surprise and will lose. Can't wait for this fight!!!

Calzaghe has a great workrate while Hopkins's workrate has been **** since the 3rd fight with Allen in 2004.

On the other hand, Bernard has a terrific track record against southpaws.

This from the clown that said Calzaghe hasnt faced anyone since Brewer.

The Hopkins the beat Tarver would get spanked by Calzaghe, any version of Hopkins will get dominated too much speed and ability.

                  Just wait.

Calzaghe looked like a ***** trying to fight his way out of spider webs in his last three fights. I'm baffled as to why Americans are suddenly kissing his jock, and before thought he was a joker.

His skills against Sheika, Woodhall and Veit the first time were the best they ever were. Since then they've gradually eroded.
