Give the kid a break.....Cotto is 27 soon to be 28 and only has 31 fights under his belt.

They are being carefull with him and I don't see why people have such a problem with it. It's like some people that discredit his father because he fought alot of avg fighters. Yea, but he beat all the great one's too.

As long as Jr. keeps winning, continues to mature and they set him up at the right time with top opposition then I have no problem with it. Mexican boxer's have a tradition of keeping busy, it's a good strategy because you fighter is always sharp.

Hard work in and out of the gym baby, that's the Mexican way
I like Chavez jr and i agree with everything you said, the only thing that i have a problem is that they treat this kid like hes the next best thing, from what ive seen hes not that great, he gets hit very easily, yet people have him very high on the list of welters, if your going to have him that high then he better be fighting better opposition like a Berto per say.

Yes Cotto has 31 fight but that's as a professional 'cause he started as an amateur, Chavez went straight to professional like his father that's the difference in the numbers. But I agree he has to work on his defense or else he won't be able to beat the big names.

Chavez needs to step up the competition this year and I think he is having a good start to achieving that. I think he needs to land a deal with Showtime or HBO maybe even get some ESPN face time. Too much of the world don't really know him yet and Arum needs to change that. He has the name the physical size, and I can see some raw talent there, but they need to start working on his marketability to the general public.

whats that supposed to mean? Cotto has fought much better comptetion. Cotto is a world champion. Cotto has been in over 10 world title fights. I dont understand your comparison. Yea hes fighting a lot, but look who hes fighting.

Why put this fight on PPV? Are you a boxing fan or do you work for Top Rank? Why do you care if they make money? As a boxing fan, I would prefer him fighting on regular TV. He needs to step it up and fight tougher competition or stop fighting bums on PPV. Hes had over 30 fights, time to stop milking him and throw him in with some real comp.

if chavez is shopping for a good opponent, he should consider fighting andre berto. chavez has reach advantage while berto berto has the physique. this could be chavez toughest test. and i still go for chavez.

Guess who's never seen Chavez Jr. fight?

                    That would be me.

I refuse to fork over money for a kid who hasn't beaten anyone of note, and is still very green.

Doesn't it bother anyone that Jermain Taylor's fights against Winky Wright, Kassim Ouma, Cory Spinks and Kelly Pavlik I weren't on PPV, but Chavez Jr. vs. Some homeless guy and Chavez Jr. vs. McDonald's Burger Flipper are on PPV?
