Cmon man...when Floyd fought Mitchell it was for the sake of fighting an easy fight at welterweight.. he wasnt fighting for anything other than to get a fight under his belt at 147 so of course he was gonna pick an easy opponent...how are you gonna compare that to a Margarito fight?

Cmon, there were 8,000,000 reasons to fight him at the time. He declined Arum's offer of 8mil, yet went and chased after Spinks. I doubt he would've made anywhere close to that figure.
That is true but he made just as much money fighting Baldomir and also got the WBC belt plus at that time Oscar was still contemplating retirement, fighting or in Nov/Dec and then he decided to take the year off so Floyd went after the WBC belt...trust me Cotto v Mayweather will happen i cant wait.

But he had trouble with Clottey (would have lost if Josh didn't hurt his hand) and lost to Williams. He messed up the money. Cotto on the other hand brings a big mane to the table and he has been very successful in his recent fights. Him calling out Floyd makes sense and I see it generating a lot of money when they fight. Outside of De La Hoya I think this is the fight Floyd is waiting to materialize.
so then you are saying taking the Mitchell fight over the Margarito and $8 Mill was a smarter move because Mitchell was more known and a bigger fight?

But that isnt the reason why you said he didnt fight Margo

Miguel Cotto needs to forget about Mayweather. There is no way in hell Mayweather gets in the same ring with Cotto. Mayweather is a coward and Cotto is the biggest threat to him in the welterweight division.

Look man all im saying is that Floyd didnt fight Margarito after the Judah fight because he was not a household name....Floyd wanted nothing but big money fights after that...he wanted Oscar but Oscar was busy contemplating what he was gonna do...after Oscar decided to take the rest of the year off Floyd went for Baldomir...why? because it was an easier fight, got the same amount of money, and got the WBC belt out of it...thats all.

we're not talking about Baldomir here, we're talking about Mitchell. Just so I can understand you, he didn't fight Margo and fought Mitchell because Mitchell was an easier title fight right? That is what you've said in the earlier posts and if you want to bring up Baldomir, you just said he was an "easier" fight also right?

Correction: Floyd went after Spinks and Shane. Shane turned him down, and a fight with Spinks would be a horrible stylistic matchup, so that got shut down fairly quick. He then waited out the winner of Baldomir/Gatti. What would Floyd have done if Gatti would've won? ... and please dont tell me that he would've rematched Gatti.

To put it politely that statement is rubbish, Cotto is the biggest Welterweight there is out there. The fans have wanted this fight for a while and it makes sense, the number 1 Welterweight fights the number 2 Welterweight with Cotto putting his WBA on the line and Mayweather his WBC. It would be a superfight, would get alot of PPV buys and it's a fight that everybody wants to see. Floyd has no reason not to take the fight.

Honestly at the time Mitchell was more known than Margarito. At the sametime in terms of ability Margarito would have been a MUCH BETTER opponent because Mitchell was done for all intents and purposes before he fought PBF. Mitchell should never even gotten in the ring against Williams.
