All this guy does is plod forward like Frankenstein with concrete boots on and throws the left jab then right hand. 1-2's all day. How in the world this club fighter is undefeated is beyond me. He should have a loss on his record since he was thoroughly outboxed by Jermain in the rematch. Anyways, once this guys steps up against the likes of Jones, Kessler, Calzaghe, Wright, Abraham, Hopkins, etc. he will be badly exposed. You heard it here first.

Pavlik seems to have a good sense of timing, has a good workrate, heavy hands, nice jab which sets up his right hand, mentally tough. As most offensive-minded fighters, he can get caught coming in and has been stunned a few times, but usually recovers quick.

He'll mix in some body shots and punches from different angles at times in addition to his 1-2s. Yeah, he usually throws the 1-2 more than anything, but the same can be said of Carlos Monzon (not that I expect Pavlik to approach anywhere near Carlos's status).

Good rebuttal, but I think his body shot work is horrendous. He rarely ever goes downstairs and when he does he leaves himself wide open to a short compact hook.

He does what he does well.

The closest comparison is to Kessler, he is similar to Kessler but slightly inferior with everything. Speed, accuracy and timing, defence.

He has a higher workrate, and fights his backside off for three minutes of every round, has a very good jab which sets the tempo of his fights. He uses his size very well. He is a world class fighter IMO. He'll lose to Kessler and Joe but thats because they are special fighters.

co-signed, except for the Monzon part. I am not a Monzon fan and don't get the big deal. He is one of the most overrated boxers of all-time. I think pavlik has already defeated tougher competition comparatively in Taylor. I don't think Monzon has ever beaten a fighter as good as Taylor in his entire career even for his time.

Well 1-2 and 1-1-2 are the best combos in boxing. If you tell me otherwise you're showing me your ignorance. That's what's working for him and he's defeated very solid opposition in a brutal fashion.

Taylor used to have a good 1-2 and 1-1-2, and was undefeated at the time beating BHOp in consecutive bouts, intimidating him mostly with the 1-2. The he fires what got him there Pat Burns and now what?
