Paulie is a good guy in person, at least when I met him he seemed that way to me. It's all a character most of the time, as long as someone can seperate the two they will do fine in this sport. When you believe your own hype, that becomes the beginning of the end.

I met him in front of a pizzeria around my school. He's definitely a cool guy to talk to.

What about the post escaped you? He is a marketable commodity, and as such has an image to uphold. I know a lot of guys who are humble on camera and are complete *******s off camera. So does that make him humble, or an *******? Think about it, this is a business.

I can run a dozen names of fighters you think are humble, but would never sign an autograph for a fan unless the cameras were on. It's like Chuck D said, don't believe the hype.

You would think this would be obvious to anyone with a brain. I guess he just doesn't understand the concept and reality of "show business".

I meet names all the time and I am truly shocked how the best boxers are normally the most down to earth cool mofo's. I have met a crap load of pro athletes from other sports and boxers have been the most down to earth IMO...

Its an inner confidence if you ask me. Everyone wants to be a fighter. When K pavlik went to a CAVS game all the players were jockin him. EVERYONE wants to be a fighter.

Nothing escaped me at all. you are basically saying that Paulie needs to come across as an egotistical ******* in front of a camera in order for him to make money and be marketable? Sorry dude, I don't agree with you one that one. And someone who is truly humble and respectful wouldn't take that persona on board and run with it in the first place, they'd have enough humility to say you know what I'm gonna be true to myself and lets the fans see the real me, not some cartoon character of me.

fight game aint easy man...look how much money kimbo is making..WHY

cuz he is marketable. Paulie doing the right thing and if he has to create a guido-wise guy persona on camera to get a sick following than more power to him. He does not need to be a nice guy on camera to appease people like you. He has appeal and in boxing you can be a "good" boxer and not get any fan following and therefore no PAY DAYS...

                    See:

                    John Ruiz
Marvin Hagler (took him years to get a name) LOL a court injuctioned name
I think to some degree lennox lewis as well, compare him to Tyson, who was the bigger draw; an ear biting, raping, maniac or a soft spoken british accent having gentleman???
