I'm just curious what you guys think, after Pavlik-Taylor II about Kelly defending the title like Jermain did. Taylor fought several smaller, blown up junior middleweights and, while you may not want Pavlik to do the same, if he did, are there any you'd pick to beat him? A Wright, a Spinks, a Forrest, etc? I'm just throwing out names. Is there anyone who could move up in weight to actually give Pavlik a run for his money- or are his only threats natural middleweights and guys moving down...?
Pavlik vs. Little man.

I know most of the fights people want to see him in are with middleweights or larger men like Kessler or Calzaghe, but I was curious if him going a full 12 with a focused Taylor, not hurting him, influenced the thought of who could stand to box with Pavlik. Taylor fought little men when he defended and I was curious if there are any jr. middleweights you guys can see having a decent showing against Pavlik, or if you think his size is too much of an asset...
Based on the responses I'm going to wager you guys either don't care or don't feel like thinking about my question. Ha.Last edited by Njord777; 02-18-2008, 04:06 PM.Comment

I have no doubts that any smaller man fighting Pavlik would be in the proverbial little man vs. larger man position of needing to use movement and slick boxing skills rather than hoping to bomb him. I also agree that Kelly's motivation to fight smaller men isn't going to be as large as Taylor's was...but can you drum up any specific junior middleweights you might give a chance to beat Pavlik? Just curious.Comment

in order for a little guy to do well against kelly they are going to have to have him fight inside! this is hard to do since he usually stays on the outside, and pops the jab. getting in will mean eating alot of jabs, and str8 rights. if they can box well inside and can get in and out effectively b4 getting hurt than sure they have a decent chance. he punches so much, and never lets up even when getting hit i think it would be very hard to do for an entire fight. without getting koed, or hurt badly!Comment

Sorry bout the Marg comment haha.
I really think anyone who fights Pavlik in the future whether smaller or bigger, seriouslly need to watch what Taylor has done in the first two fights. Pavlik is not indestructable, clean powerful combo's can hurt him, or at least wobble his legs. Escpecially for a smaller guy, speed, quickness, and conditioning will have to be key. Easier said then done of coarse & because of this I don't see anyone out there right now moving up to beat him.Comment
