Surprised by Pavlik's head hunting myself, he should have known better and he may have hurt his hands as a result. He turned the Miranda fight around in the third with great body work, and even effectively used some great body shots to hurt Taylor in the first fight. This wasn't the best I've seen from Pavlik, defensively or offensively. I suppose time will tale if this was just a bad night or not; again I believe he may have been cruising.

pavlik is probably the best fighter in a very ordinary middleweight division. i think pavlik - abraham would be a close one, and the home fighter would get a decision.

i really don't think this guy will be remembered as a great middleweight.

My point is, is Pavlik on the same level as a Kessler or Calzaghe? No, but he's still early in his career and hopefully will improve and become a better fighter. But to 'write him off' altogether, like you're doing, is a bit presumptuous...
The Miranda fight was destined to be a brawl. In Taylor I it was JT who came out throwing bombs. Pavlik is a fantastic brawler and will always do well in fights like that. Against Abraham, Kessler, Lee, maybe even Wright, etc., he will not look so good.

Pavlik's career is really just getting started and has many more fights to prove whether he's a great mw or not. It's funny how he had one 'off night' and now everyone's saying how bad he is. I think it's a little too early to be making assumptions about boxing history...

nah, i'm not basing my opinion of his greatness just on this one fight. i don't think he will ever be comparable to top middleweights of the past, but he's a good fighter and a good champion.

but as you say, he's got plenty of time to prove me wrong.
