    Not Impressed with Pavlik

I was not impressed with Pavliks one dimensional style of the jab followed by the right hand. No variation whatsoever. I believe Taylor is the better pure boxer with much faster handspeed, who had all the tools to take Pavlik apart, yet the reason he did not is because he doesn't know how to utilize all of his gifts. Even with Taylors lack of show I still had him winning the fight 116-113 as I scored many of the early rounds for Taylor.

Pavlik will be in some real trouble once he faces a fighter who knows how to utilize the jab properly as well as follow up on combinations.

I agree with this analysis that Pavlik looked very 'one dimensional' with his one-two style of punching, however, I think that Pavlik just had an 'off night.'

Sure Pavlik is a limited fighter, but Taylor did not by any means win that fight.

Taylor won't crack the top five at 168. Pavlik will lose his titles soon then lose some more after that. These were not elite guys going at it last night.

      But Pavlik won very easily.

Pavlik is a solid fighter. Pav isnt the most skillfull or the fastest, but his consistency is hard to deal with.

I think Pavlik didnt look as good in the second fight was because Taylor made many adjustments in training.

It takes two to make a fight. It's hard to look great when all your opponent want to do is survive 12 rounds.

I Dont Know What It Is Because I Am A Pavlik Fan And A Jt Fan. I Wamted Jt To Win But I Gave It To Pavlik. But Even As A Kp Fan I Dont See What Is So Hard About Beating This Guy. He Is A Classic 1-2 Fighter. He Doesnt Have Anything Other Than A Jab-straight Right. He Looked Really Unimpressive. Jermain Should Have Moved To Kelly's Left And Got Away From The Right Hand, Because If You Take Kp's Right Hand Away You Have The Fight Won. But Thats Just My Observation.

Pavlik looked better when started going to the body late in the fight (idiotic strategy on his part). I believe Taylor was hurt by a bodyshot in round 11.

I have to disagree. I thought Pavlik systematically broke Jermain Taylor down. He fought a lot like Diego Corrales used to. Back the dude up and work on the inside. If he stays on the outside push him back with the jab and try to find your range on the right hand.

I thought it was a very well fought fight and Pavlik wore Taylor out to pull ahead late. I came away very impressed. No he's not the most athletically gifted fighter, but he doesn't try to do too much. He's got a good foundation and throws clean hard shots and knows how to land them even when the guy he's fighting is defending himself well.

Pavlik just had an off night last night Kayjay. In his fights against Taylor I and Miranda he looked absolutely ferious and determined. Last night, he was just comfortable cruising along jabbing and following up with the right.

My point is, is Pavlik on the same level as a Kessler or Calzaghe? No, but he's still early in his career and hopefully will improve and become a better fighter. But to 'write him off' altogether, like you're doing, is a bit presumptuous...
