I don’t know why a lot of posters here are criticizing Pavlik for wanting to fight John Duddy. Duddy may not be a ‘world beater’ but the guy’s no bum either. In fact, Duddy's a contender according to world sanctioning and boxing authorities. My case in point: Duddy is ranked 3rd by the WBO; 4th by the WBA; 3rd by the WBC; 11th by the IBF; and 10th by the “Ring Magazine.”

So in other words, world boxing authorities consider Duddy a viable ‘contender’ so why shouldn’t fans?...

He's better than about 12 of the guys Hopkins defended against, so if we go by that . . . .

It's just that no one thinks Duddy will actually win

i admit the trinidad fight would be poor matchmaking but i actually like the duddy fight. johns improving his technique all the time and is keeping really active and developing all the time. hes an all action brawler who cuts aswell. i do think pavlik would win but duddy v pavlik would be good for boxing. abraham is obviously the pick em fight but he needs some exposure in america first. how about duddy v abraham at madison square garden with the winner fighting pavlik???

Another dumb fight because Abraham should easily be able to KO duddy. Who ever runs Duddy's management team are complete morons to put him up against good boxers when they know he would get his ass whooped. Hell, a ****ing year ago duddy admitted on espn friday night fights that taylor would whoop his ass. So, he improved that much from a year? That he thinks he can beat someone like pavlik or abrahams? What a ****ing joke, I think him and his management team don't even believe duddy could ever be a good boxer so they just want a big pay day and thats all. They sure in the hell don't care about keeping his undefeated record.

Let me see duddy ko someone like zertuche before calling out ppl like pavlik He can't probably because zertuche would ko duddy

He’s an underdog of course, but we’ve seen bigger upsets in boxing before. Based on your thought process, Kayjay, Mike Tyson should never have fought Buster Douglas b/c everyone thought that Tyson would win and thought Buster had no chance at all. That's just one of the more 'glaring' examples in boxing history...

In other words, the ‘underdog’ status, is, and will always be a standard theme in boxing...

buster douglass was bigger then mike tyson, put anyone in a ring with a huge heavyweight and they shouldn't be a super underdog. Theres no way in hell duddy is naturally bigger then Pavlik. And as I said, probably less then a year ago actually duddy said something on espn that he's not ready with boxers like jermaine taylor. Basically admitting he'd get his ass beat by taylor. So, I don't understand how he can believe he can honestly beat pavlik if he admitted that he would lose to taylor... Makes no god damn sense

tito has done nothing to earn a shot and i hope that this fight does not come off! duddy is a legit challenger and has a good rank! as far as arthur goes he is a good fighter, but to pick him over kelly is humerous! the guy got a close decision over miranda, and got his jaw broke in the meantime. miranda save the point deduction would have probably won! kelly completely outclassed miranda, and knocked him the **** out, but arthur beats him?? if this comes off i will bet every point i have at the time on pavlik! don't forget me abraham fans!
