    Hopkins' Trainer Not Underestimating Calzaghe

Former Junior Middleweight and Middleweight champion John David Jackson understands that his fighter Bernard Hopkins has a steep challenge in front of him in Joe Calzaghe. "You can't sell Joe short," Jackson told BoxingScene.com. "He hasn't been champion for ten years and make 20 defenses for no reason. He can fight. For Bernard, he knows what's at hand. He wants to go out on top. Joe is here to try and stop it. I don't think Bernard takes Calzaghe lightly." [details]

Remember me here! I'm the one who said:

"BERNARD HOPKINS WILL KNOCK JOE CALZAGHE OUT AFTER SYSTEMATICALLY TAKIN HIM APART WITH CRISP SOLID RIGHT HAND COUNTERS AND HARD UPPERCUTS AS JOE COMES IN!"

of course. jackson is not underestimating calzaghe. if there is anybody out there who should underestimate his opponent, it should be calzaghe considering his record vis-a-vis hopkins. but i don't think joe underestimate his old foe. and as i've said before, joe will punish hopkins not because hopkins is a spent force, but because of his disrespect with the brits. go joe!!! sent the old man into retirement!

I remember him fighting Chris Pyatt - the first WBO title fight in Britain was NOT Nigel Benn-Chris Eubank.

I'd tip the Hopkins who fought Tarver to take Calzaghe, but that was years ago.

It's amazing that underestimating Joe Calzaghe is still something that comes up before all his fights.

He is perhaps the best super middleweight ever and undefeated, yet his opponent's trainer has to talk about not underestimating him? I guess after Cal decisions Hopkins and lines up a payday against Jones, we'll hear all about Jones not underestimating him either.
