I read this excuse so much, but you know what, a lot of fighters hurt their hands but they dig down deep and do what they have to do to win. I think that fight just showed Clottey doesnt have what it takes to be in the upper echelon. Floyd has broke his hands yet still found a way to win, and just recently Alfonso Gomez broke his hand and still fought to beat Tackie, Clottey had his chance and didnt capitalize, from his performance against Shamone Alvarez hed be lucky to beat any of the top 8 welters in my eyes. Hes a good fighter, tough guy, but i dont think hes world championship caliber, more so of just a gate keeper.

"IBF should not grant Cintron exception to fight Margarito if they wouldn't give Roy Jones Jr an exception to fight John Ruiz!"

Editor: Welcome home from Africa, Joshua. What's the latest and greatest? Tell us about it.

Joschua Clottey: "I went to Africa, and my manager called me telling me about Kermit Cintron doesn't want to fight me now, he wants to fight with somebody. I get here, and I find out he's going to fight Antonio Margarito. Margarito is a former WBO champion, I don't know where's he's ranked by the IBF, but I'm #1, I fought for #1. They don't even give me step aside money, they treat me like that because I'm from Africa."

Editor: Basically, you feel like you've been disrespected by not getting the mandatory against Cintron.

Joshua Clottey: Yes, I respect everybody always, when it comes to business. The IBF is not being fair. They disrespected me, they don't respect me and who I am with a move like this. I've been fighting for a long time, I have to get my shot with Kermit Cintron. How can they give that shot to Margarito? There was no talk of that, they never even gave me step aside money.

Editor: I talked to Bob Arum about having Kermit Cintron and Miguel Cotto unify the titles, and he said he couldn't do that because he also represents you, and you're the mandatory, so Kermit Cintron has to make the mandatory against you. Then a week later, he allowed Cintron to fight Margarito. Did anything happen between you and Bob Arum from one week to the other, because it didn't really seem like he cared much about getting your mandatory enforced after I spoke with him the first time?

JC: One thing about me and Bob Arum is I respect him so much, from when I was a kid in Africa. I knew about Bob Arum, and who he was. I'm very happy with Bob Arum, but it feels like there's something wrong somewhere. I didn't talk to Bob Arum yet. I spoke to him before I had my last fight. He asked me to win the fight. He has to give me some options, he has to make sure he's still looking into Cintron. They don't want to fight me, so they get Margarito.

Editor: Deos a fight with Cintron and Margarito derserve an exception from the IBF?

JC: No, the IBF is not being fair with me. In the IBF, people from Africa are going to do things for me. They're going to make sure I get my shot, but these guys, from wherever they are from, don't even care. I paid $1000 for a sanctioning fee, so why can't I get my shot? They didn't talk about it with me, or even give me step aside money, this is not fair. It's all about politics and not about fair things.

The IBF wouldn't give Roy Jones Jr an exception to fight John Ruiz because it was for the heavyweight title from the WBA. Cintron is no Roy Jones Jr and Margarito is a FORMER WBO champion, so I don't know what ground they're granting this exception on.

Editor: Have you spoken to Bob Arum?

JC: No, I haven't spoken to Bob Arum, because I don't want to talk to a promoter. When I was with DiBella, I spoke to DiBella and that didn't work out well for me.

Editor: Has your manager talked to Bob Arum about this?

JC: No, I didn't talk to Bob Arum. I'm very sure on Monday I'll call the office and talk to him myself.

Editor: So you have no idea of when you're fighting next?

JC: I don't even know, and I don't want to know, because this is not fair.

Editor: Would you be ready to fight Cintron on April 12th?

JC: I'm very ready to fight Cintron next month. I was in Africa running every day. Here, the weather is cold, in Africa the weather is normal. I'm ready to fight with Cintron, Cintron is *****. I don't even know why his name is Killer.
hey were do you get these interviews ?
      is ti official ?

i said this when Margarito lost to him... margarito figured him out and gave everyone else a template to follow. unfortunately for margarito, he took too long to figure him out.

Cintron would have signed a contract to fight Williams, but Goosen only gave him 20 hours to sign, and he had a follow up appointment with the hand surgeon 5 days from then at which time he would either be cleared or not cleared to fight this spring, but Goosen said he wouldnt wait for that. Cintron ended up getting cleared and they moved on. That is not cintron avoiding williams, that is Dan Goosen making up arbitrary times for the signing of agreements.

That sir was a genious response, much praise

Everyone needs to leave my boy Kermit alone. Dude
has 28 wins with 26 coming from knockout!! He got spanked by Tony, what does he do? He becomes world champ, Clottey lost to damn Carlos Baldomir for a minor title, then lost to Tony for a major title, he's had his chances

All this Cintron is running scared is nonsense, the man even challenged Sean Sherk when Floyd pussied out. Clottey will get his shot in due time

Cintron wont fight williams now, cuz williams doesnt offer anything. he was an overrated prospect.

Cintron would spank williams. Margarito started to expose williams at the end of their fight, and quintana just followed in those steps - walk through his pitter patter punches and hit him. Cintron would have had paul out of there quickly with that horrible defense paul has.
yeah it's obvious since marg lost, and marg destroyed kermie, yet kermie will spank williams! ok, and i like the part about your knowledgeable anology on how quintana followed margs "steps." walk through the pitter patter, and hit him! You must be a serious boxing guru!

he did not duck a fight with williams. Cintron talked about fighting Williams last summer after williams beat margarito, but williams team said cintron didnt deserve to fight williams, that he had to beat margarito first. Nothing happened after that which would make cintron want to duck williams (because, for whatever reason, williams team didnt line up a fight for their fighter), cintron just got injured and then dan goosen started throwing out bull**** dates and times that contracts needed to be signed, and not knowing if he would be cleared or not he had to say "Not now". read here for my source http://doghouseboxing.com/Chee/Cheepress0204e08.htm

and to say that i know nothing about boxing is just wrong. i have studied this sport for many years. paul williams never impressed me with his fighting, he just provided a problem because of his size. His power is negligible, he throws slapping pitter patter punches, and he stands in front of guys to throw all those punches, so he is there to be hit. it is intimidating to deal with his size and volume, but once you realize that his volume doesnt have anything behind it, unlike margarito, you can find him with power shots. margarito can throw at that volume and have power. Pauls lack of power will be exposed even more when he tries to move up in weight, which, after his 17 lb overnight gain he will have to.

ok, this is all nice and good, but does not erase the fact that will and marg had a tough fight with marg losing. than u have the fact that marg totally destroyed kermit! kermie got frustrated with the last tomato can he fought, and almost had a melt down and lost. he is not near the boxer quintana is, and would lose his composure against williams and lose! just the facts, he has great power, and nothing else. on top of all that he is weak minded, and a baby who can not handle adversity!
