okay.. with regards to the whole power equation thing.
power is velocity times force (which is mass times acceleration).
but the point with punching is, putting on more mass, doesnt mean that you're putting more more mass behind the punch.
also
if you increase your bodyweight a lot, without increasing your strength (or only increase your strength very slightly), your just slowing yourself down. not increasing your power.
the idea of increasing your body weight always increasing your power is based on the assumption that the velocity of your punch will stay the same as you increase in weight. it is far more likely that the power will remain constant, and the velocity will decrease.Comment

real heavy weights with low reps does nothing but shocks the muscles and forces it to grow which leads to muscle mass. thats maybe why hopkins and jones used that technique becuase they needed more mass but other than for that reason boxers would not do heavy weight low reps.Comment

very low reps dont make you bulky. Muscles grow mostly in the 8-12 rep range. If you look at powerlifters (who train around 5 reps for 5 sets) they are not bulky, especially the lighter ones.real heavy weights with low reps does nothing but shocks the muscles and forces it to grow which leads to muscle mass. thats maybe why hopkins and jones used that technique becuase they needed more mass but other than for that reason boxers would not do heavy weight low reps.
Low reps thicken the muscle fibers and make you stronger for a 1 rep max but dont give you a bodybuilders physique. 8-12 reps causes an increase in number of fibres,
I`ve never head of low reps being used to shock muscles.Comment
, they actually regret it, the dudes that went to japan all got ktfod. oh well.
