Cotto drinks "PEDIALITE" immediately after weigh in. It's for hydrating the body, replenishing lost fluids, electrolytes, and aloids. As long as the fighter makes weight....they are within regulation. Some dudes can mangage that cycle quite easily, but sooner or later (Like Cotto at 140) it takes it's toll.
Paul Williams gained 17 pounds in one day. HOW?!?

Just to be fair thou, Quintana Came in at 158. Which is 10 plus pounds also after weigh in.
Still though, Williams went up dramatically. I think it effected his speed & stamina. He didn't throw nearly as many puches as he usually doesComment

****, after I had mono, I had lost 15 pounds in one week. I was 6 foot at the time, and only weighed 130... I dropped down to 115, and I didn't even work out or anything. I was a junior in high school at the time. There is just a bunch of excess weight that a normal person's body has, that can be easily lost.
Anyways, Williams has nothing on Joshua Clottey... I'm still waiting for someone to top what he did when he fought Diego Corrales.
147 ---> 170

On a side note... how cool would it be to be so dehydrated from making weight that you can drink 2 gallons of water, and not have to pee, at all?Comment

It would suck to be in the ring with a full bladder and get hit with a low body shot.Comment

Well I don't think you should be blaming the fighters because just about everyone does it. It's the system that is in place.
I guess you need to ask why there is a 24 hour weigh in the first place, and what the pro's and con's are between 24 hour weigh in and same day weigh ins.Comment
