yeah well Cotto isn't Vernon Forrest. and besides, forrest didn't have his punching power for mayorga because of his shoulder issues but if he did, of course he would've ko'd him.
If you aren't a ***** and have half a brain for boxing, you can beat mayorga.

At the time Vernon was twenty years ahead of Miguel and still lost....twice, injuries aren't even an excuse, once you come to fight, thats on you.

Anywhoo care to make a little wager. April 19 Matt Serra is facing the man in your avatar in his hometown, throw me some odds and we can make a deal

            Mayorga-Cotto

Let me tell you guys something, Cotto-Mayweather sounds good for now, but if the Cotto-Mayorga fight happens, there's a good possibility that those talks will evaporate like Williams-Mayweather did. You might think I'm out of my mind, but just take this into account, Mayorga is bigger, stronger, and can take more punches than Ricardo Torres (the guy that exposed, and almost upset, Cotto for the first time) and they have the same style. Take a look at rounds 2,5, and 7 of the Cotto-Torres fight, and you'll understand my concern with this fight. Had that been Mayorga, Cotto would've not been able to sustain his punishment. Mayorga has been trading blows at 154+ for the past 5 years and at 147, he's gonna bludgeon people to death. I'm certain that Cotto's Puerto-Rican pride and heart is gonna want to make a statement and trade with Mayorga in the center of the ring--look what happened to Forrest. Not to mention, Cotto was also hurt by little ole Zab Judah. If Mayorga comes to fight like he has in the past, and like he did against a 180 lb Vargas, mark my words, it will end early for Cotto, and Money May will look elsewhere for a superfight.

that is correct sir, however, Cotto can get hit with a nuclear blast and be perfectly fine 10 seconds later

If Cotto didn't take the fight, then everyone would cry about him ducking fighters. In a few years, nobody will say that Cotto didn't take on all comers.

                    Miguel Cotto vs Ricardo Mayorga

Former world champion Ricardo Mayorga claims he has inked a deal with DKP for a July 19 title challenge against WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto to take place at a site in the United States. In that bout, the always entertaining "El Matador" promised to KO Cotto "in three or four rounds." Mayorga also revealed that he considered a fight with Shane Mosley, but said the offer from Golden Boy Promotions wasn't sufficient to motivate him to accept the fight. Top Rank has confirmed discussions in regard to Cotto-Mayorga, but nothing is finalized at this moment. In the meantime, Cotto has to get past Alfonso Gomez on April 12.
