In terms of combinations, I'd give the edge to Ali, but in terms of hand-speed, I say Tyson.

Mike Tyson said Floyd Patterson was faster than him.
Henry Cooper said Floyd Patterson was faster than Ali (he fought both).
Ali said Patterson was the most fastest and most skilled fighter he ever fought.

Of course Patterson wasn't nearly as big as Tyson or Ali, not much bigger than the average light heavyweight so he might not be counted as a heavyweight.

Patterson was very fast with combinations and he was very explosive, even in his mid 30's.
Ali had the fastest 1-2 and Tyson had some very fast combinations too but if you watch Tyson's fight against Tony Tubbs, you'll see that Tubbs is actually faster than Tyson.

      Floyd Patterson.

      Tyson vs Tubbs.

      Ali.

Patterson and Tyson were fast but they don't even compare to Muhammad Ali.

Furthermore, Patterson fought around 192 lbs and his highest was 200lbs, he spent the majority of his career at 160-180lbs

Just watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU2YPXghFkU, 11 punches in 3 seconds! Pretty long shots too!

I remember seeing a documentary about Ali on Youtube where it was confirmed he had the fastest hands of any heavyweight. #2 was Tyson.

mike tyson had the faster single punch speed but when it came to combos, I would have to give it to Ali.

Are we just talking heavyweight champs or top HWs here? Because I think Chambers has extremely fast hands for a HW.

Mmmmm Its just that I have been watching a few Ali fights today, And when you see the size of him and the speed he throws them punches for like 15 rounds is ***ing class A..He truly is one of the greatest of all time..Not only the punches but his energy in the early fights is unreal.
