sounds like a bunch of weak excuses to me.

Kathy says that Williams would have to beat Quintana for their even to be a Williams-Cintron fight in July, but then doesn't use that same logic for Cotto beating Gomez (without injury) or Cintron beating Margarito (without injury).

I think the most telling fact in all of this is that as soon as Cintron was healed, he called out everyone except Williams (who he was scheduled to fight).

Its obvious that there is alot of lies in the statement, If they really wanted the Williams fight all they had to do was re-negiotate with Dan goosen, Even her date on the January 25...jan 24 doesnt sounds right.

he went to the doctor immediately after the injury, and that which you are refering to would have been what people call in the world of the non-ignoramus a "follow up visit".

You missed a big part of what she said: Goosen said that for a fight to go down in July with Williams and Cintron, Cintron could not have an interim fight (in case you had trouble following that little nugget, this means that Cintron v. Margarito would never had happened) this means Cintron would have had a 8 or 9 month layoff before facing williams. while williams team seams to be ok with having their fighter wait an eternity to take a fight, that is not what manny steward does with his fighters.

Cintron had 2 deals on the table:

            1. Fight williams in July/ August, having had a 9 month layoff, and being forced to not take an interim fight. (beyond that, being forced into a fight by a promoter giving arbitrary deadlines and no specific fight dates or locations is BS)

            2. Fight Margarito in april to avenge his only loss, a loss so many boxing fans agree needs to be avenged, with a chance to fight cotto if he wins.

            what would you have done?

here we have a good case about a manager earning their keep. kathy did a good job with this letter. i wish they would of included dollar figures.
cintron put himself in a good situation, he just got to avenge his lost with margarito, not an easy task. but they have confidence which is good,
i also imagine that margarito will want a rematch if he does losses. but i guess there is a understanding that the winner will automaticaly fight cotto.

Cintron will get it worse this time than in the first time. margs already gave up a big pay day losing to williams. he wont let another one get away.

                  actually,

they had a about agreement in place even before Cintron took the "tune-up" against Feliciano.

Goossen asked them not to take it, because it could jeopardize the unification fight with Williams.

Cintron's team took it anyways, and look what happened.

I think its fair to ask him not to take another tune-up.

And after the injury, both HBO and Goossen left the door wide-open to reschedule the bout in March, but Cintron's team was interested and started calling out everyone at welterweight except Paul Williams.

Kathy Duva is trying to do damage control, because it looks pretty bad that they turned down a career high payday and a chance at unification to instead fight on Cotto's undercard for 1/2 the money.

I don't blame Cintron for taking the Margarito fight, as it is one he has to avenge, but Cintron (and his team) are definitely avoiding Paul Williams.

only issue I have is how people are claiming that Cintron is "scared" of Williams. Williams hardly left a scratch on Antonio Margarito. Antonio Margarito demolished Cintron. Horribily too. Wanting to fight the guy that made you look like a baby deer after poppin out the mama deer's cooch doesnt scream "*****" to me.

I wouldnt call it avoiding Williams, but just assessing the risk-reward factor in fighting him. Think about it. Everyone in the WW division is trying to fight Mayweather. Thats the dream fight. Everything they do is in the hopes that it gets them closer. Cintron could have fought Williams or Margarito. The question he asked himself was, which one gets me closer to stardom and a fight with Mayweather? Neither one of them really does. They dont have enough world recognition or star status to increase Cintrons stardom if he beats them. But what makes Margarito more appealing is the fact that he is supposed to fight Cotto if he wins. So Cintrons reasoning is why fight and beat Williams when that victory will most likely make me the new "most feared/avoided" fighter in the business when I could beat Margarito and land that fight with Cotto, the guy everyone wants Mayweather to fight. If i beat Cotto, then everyone will naturally want Mayweather to fight me. Honestly, i do believe that Cintron wanted to fight Williams, but I think his promoter and his manager did there jobs in the sense they directed their fighter to the most beneficial option out there for him. Just my 2 cents. I know boxing.
