As much as I like Gomez and want him to win a title, I just can't see it happening here. Cotto can adjust too well, but I think Gomez has potential that could make Cotto look "bad"

When I say that, I mean making it so that it looks like Margarito has more of a shot.

i think some people saw the superbowl and are subconciously associating the same kind of upset with this fight

no way in hell gomez wins unless cotto has a heart attack and dies during the fight

Anyone that likes to bet on boxing for real money, I would recommend opening an account at 5 dimes sports book online. I think you can open one for as little as $50. They have, hands down, the best boxing odds as well as offering more fights/props than any other sports book I use.

To me I associate it with the NBA. You have all these bad ass athletes from the U.S with all the talent in the world, but these guys from Europe come over with not as much athletic ability and not able to jump as high or be as fast but they are fundamentally sound and capitalize on their stregnths which makes them better than some of the U.S players. Like Leandro Barbosa, Manu Ginobili, Dirk Nowitski, Pau Gasol.Thats is how I look at it.

The thing is though, and a lot of people won't admit it...but the majority of people who believe he'll beat Cotto are basing it off his brutal KO of Gatti. The same went for when Gatti fought Mayweather. Everyone was on the "Oh it's Gatti, he's gonna hurt Mayweather"...and we all know what happened, Gatti in turn got named a catch phrase ("Damn, son got Gatti'd).

I think Gomez will put up a good fight, maybe better than most skeptics think...but he won't be able to handle Cotto's power and boxing skills. Look for him to go out around 8th or 9th round.

Gomez has come a long way but I equate this fight to Rocky Juarez taking on Barerra. I know Juarez gave Barerra a good fight but at least Rocky has power, something Gomez seriously lacks.

I think he can box with Cotto but eventually Cotto's body shots and stright shots will get to Gomez. If Gomez had a strong punch, then he might have a chance.

If this fight goes the distance, Gomez chin will have to hold up and he will take a beating.

I think he might get him on points. if you watch Gomez he starts off really strong and fades after about the6 round. but i think he knows this is his oppurtunity and he will not get another one like this. so i think in traing he will go balls to the wall and work on his conditioning more than anything else. Your boxing ability is somethin you will always have, you just have to tune it some times. but he knows his stamina is his downfall and will work to get it right. STAR of the fight goes the distance, they get the decision regardless of what really happened. Thats the only thing i hate about boxing.

Maybe you're right. At least the Giants had already proven they could be competitive with the Patriots. Gomez hasn't been in against anyone like Cotto. I think he's too brave for his own good and is going to take a nasty beating.
