    Clinton Woods vs. Antonio Tarver

Having seen Woods fight before, I think he has a legit chance at beating Tarver.

        Woods-Tarver live on Setanta

        Woods-Tarver live on Setanta

Clinton Woods' IBF light heavyweight title fight with Antonio Tarver on April 12 will be shown live on Setanta Sports, the latest top-class addition to our superb schedule of boxing.

The bout, which will take place in Tampa, Florida, comes a week before the Joe Calzaghe-Bernard Hopkins mega-fight in Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood and Woods is hoping he will fight the winner.

“That has got to be the dream,” said Woods. “I think me against Tarver and Calzaghe versus Hopkins are the semi-finals, with the winner facing each other in the final.”

With David Haye and Enzo Maccarinelli also meeting in the most eagerly-awaited domestic bout since Benn-Eubank on March 8, there can be no doubt that Setanta Sports is the new home of British boxing.

Setanta's Director of Sport, Trevor East said: “We’ve already snapped up some fantastic fights in 2008 – Maccarinelli vs. Haye (March 8th), Calzaghe vs. Hopkins and now Woods vs. Tarver. It promises to be a great showdown in Florida.”

'Magic Man' Tarver famously won two of his three scraps against then pound-for-pound champion Roy Jones Jr and is unbeaten in his last two fights since losing to Bernard Hopkins.

That defeat can be at least partly attributed to him having to lose weight after bulking up for his role as Mason 'The Line' Dixon in the Rocky Balboa movie.

Woods will be making his fifth defence of the title he won by beating Rico Haye in March 2005.

I think this one's going the distance, i'd be shocked if Tarver takes out Woods with one shot, which is the only way I see it ending inside the distance.

As for the final decision - whichever way it goes, I see it having controversy written all over it. That type of fight, probably not unlike Woods- Johnson I or III (even though Tarver and Johnson are two completely different fighters).

What I will say is, it should prove to be a highly entertaining fight. Woods is good, though I think he's getting a bit overrated. But that said, he's to the point where he should be able to (at least) push Tarver to the absolute limit, if not outwork him altogether.

Clinton Woods will deserve to win a decision, but will be robbed by the judges in Florida.

I agree Woods is the better boxer, but he needs a KO to win.

I am afraid I have to agree. Which pains be to say it as he is my hometown fighter but I think tarver has the edge over a probable 12rd fight. He has balls tho takingh is belt to the US, fair play to him but unless he can lead him into a brawl (sheffield style lol) or get a big ko then he will be coming home empty handed.

Tarver is still a tool tho lol
