Steward Wants Andy Lee To Fight Winky Wright

Emanuel Steward, trainer and manager of middleweight prospect Andy Lee (16-0, 12KOs), is looking to push the kid hard in 2008. He's already trying to position him for the winner of the tentative bout between WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik and John Duddy on June 7. [details]

Lee beats Eastman but it's not a good idea matching him up with Winky and I agree with the article, Winky probably won't fight him.

why not? worst comes to worst he loses. Winky isn't going to wreck him. If he wins his name goes up in lights.

Because he'd lose and I'd rather he fight Duddy then fight Sturm so he can maybe get a title. I really don't see him beating Winky.

Why not? Winky isn't going to beat this kid, and if Lee could poke holes in Wink's defense he could come out looking spectacular. Taylor was able to bully Wink a bit, Hopkins headbutted him but didn't do much damage. Lee could become the first to really bust Winky up. He has the methodical approach to his offense that could do it.

I don't see him beating Winky either, but I don't see how a loss at 23 against a recognised elite fighter like Winky is THAT bad. It's all experience in't it?

If he wins it fast tracks his career by about 3 years. Worth the risk?

I watched Lee fight Falliga and he was open to right hand counters, Winky's jab will beat him.

It depends on how he takes the loss mentally, sometimes a loss for a young fighter can ruin him mentally. I agree that if he beats Winky, his career gets a big boost.

Steward wants him to fight everybody. Next he'll be calling out Wladimir Klitschko. I can see it now. Lee got the better of the two in sparring. We'll gladly face Wladimir if he's up for the challenge. LoL. I don't care who he fights really though, I just wanna see him in action already. I've seen him once before and he had a devastating left hook knockout on the guy. I dunno if he's ready for a guy like Pavlik or Miranda, but those are 2 guys I'd like to see him face.
