Even if Paul Williams is ridiculously overrated...

****in' A he is fun to watch fight!

That seriously does make for the most entertaining fighters... fighters who throw a zillion punches and can't hurt anyone.

Because they usually beat some dude up for like 9 rounds before the corner throws in the towel.

Juan Diaz and Paul Williams really are great for the entertainment value of the sport.

you buggin fam, ridiculously overrated? WTF, so he didn't just beat Antonio Margarito? a BIG threat in the Welterweight division, he didnt just take him out the mix? I think you need to take a few steps back D all that overrated **** died when the announcer announced him as the winner of the fight against Margarito and as a major champion at the Welterwight division.. I agree he is entertaining but hell no the man ain't overrated, people know what he can do which is why the 1 time someone decided to face him it was because if he didn't his title would be stripped and there was no guarantee he was going to win the OTHER title he could possibly have been fighting for, guys like Margarito don't think about who is the easier fighter he has too much balls for that, no way will he just drop a title all not to face a man he ain't even afraid of, not enough Welterweights show that heart but best believe against Carlos Quintana that Paul Williams will further prove my point of NOT being overrated..

      I mean...

People are saying **** like P4P #1 for years, and the guy that is going to destroy everyone at 160.

He was hurt quite a few times against Margarito.

He couldn't get Santos Pakau out of there for 5 full rounds, who is easily hurt.

He really is nothing more than an unskilled volume puncher IMO.

But some people on here are seriously touting him as better than Tommy Hearns, which is where the overrated comment comes into play.

Remember Crillz, Margarito won the rounds that he actually put an effort up in. He basically just ****ed away way too many rounds in the early going to win the fight. He's an idiot, but who didn't know that?

He took on a fighter Mayweather wanted no part of. Mayweather knows how to handpick his opponents, he is smart. He makes money, he doesn't give a **** that he didn't fight the best

lolz "He's an idiot, but who didn't know that?" thats funny. no ****y talk neither I actually laughed at that..

Paul ain't no Tommy, whoever said that should go watch Golf, Paul has characteristic traits comparable to Tommy but no go in terms of accomplishments or ability.. Margarito didn't just lay back and say "Here you go Mr. Williams you can have my title and kick my ass" he was looking for ways to get at Paul but couldn't seem to get threw, Paul threw over 100 punches a round dogz thats hard to get past, it wasn't until PAUL got tired that Tony was able to do his **** but if you look at it it took for Paul to tone down a bit for Tony to get his **** off, it had nothing to do with Tony putting up an effort he just was thrown off by facing someone with such a high out put and a tall frame, that was Paul's doing and not Tony's slacking.. I hear ya point but I don't think Paul is overrated.

Good. Thanks for waiting a few posts before turning this into a Mayweather thread.

How about, he just took on the most dangerous opponent at 147 who can't draw a ****ing paycheck?

Margarito is a decent fighter, but the fact that fighters get paid **** to fight him is what keeps opponents away from him more than anything.

It is absurd that no one thinks that Williams is overrated...

Does no one think that Cotto's body attack and jab-dependent boxer-puncher/pressure style can do anything to Williams?

How about how Williams would do against a defensive specialist? What will he do when throwing a million punches doesn't work because he is getting countered?

He faced one type of elite fighter, and people are already ready to hand him the welterweight division on a silver platter. Seems a bit premature (actually quite a bit premature) in my opinion.

He is now the most feared welter, not many are wanting to fight him, just like with marg.

                  ...

Is Winky Wright the most feared middleweight?

No one wants to fight him right now...

But that is probably because his economic value ****ing blows.

Any idea why Juan Manuel Marquez didn't get his first big payday until late in his career? It's not only because he is a badass, it's because ihs economic value sucks it.

Every fighter who has to go through the madatory process may or may not be any better than any other fighter... but I will tell you that they are not going to get many big fights, because their economic value sucks. If it didn't, they wouldn't have to get to be ranked #1 to get a big fight. Yaknowhatimsayin?

LOL @ dweins!!!! Hey man, the punisher isn't even one-fourth of the way of his boxing career so maybe, just maybe, he can be another tommy hearns. Tommy hearns used to have the highest KO rate in boxing during his time and that's difficult to surpass for williams but just like tommy, the punisher will take on all comers. I love him when he was running after margo's ass while margo was in turn running after PBF. He finally caught up with margo and that was just the beginning. He missed his chance against kermit but maybe some other time.
