Based on what I have seen out of both men from they WHOLE CAREERS NOT JUST AT 147. So in that regard no Cotto has not fought the better opposition. Also when looking at skills and ring smarts PBF has the advantage. Cotto has a power advantage but he does not have 1 punch KO power. Cotto wears his opponents down the same as PBF but Cotto hits with more power than PBF.

That is what my opinion is based on.

Cotto has a tired and predictable style, he is also chinny. I wouldn`t be surprised if he got knocked out.

Just because people think the fight should happen doesnt mean they think Cotto will win.

          These threads are getting ridiculous.

The people who say Floyd is going to destroy Cotto obviously don't watch boxing and are Floyd fans just off the popularity (as was with Roy Jones fans in the late 90s).

It's not a coincidence that all the boxing columnists & fans want to see Cotto vs Mayweather. If Cotto doesn't have a chance, then why the uproar for the fight? Of course fans of both fighters will say their respected fighter will win, but it's crazy to think Cotto doesn't have the best chance of anyone who's fought Money May. He's younger, stronger, and is coming to his prime and getting better every fight. You can talk about Hatton, De La Hoya, etc...but Cotto is the mega fight Floyd can seal his legacy with (whether he cares or not).

Like someone said on this board, the more Floyd ducks the fight the more popularity Cotto will receive as he continues fighting and thus becoming the recognized WW champ.

I still think the fight will happen eventually. But the more Mayweather waits, the better chance Cotto has.

An inactive fighter vs an active fighter of their caliber can spell disaster. Remember when everyone thought Roy Jones was unstoppable?

Talent and puffed up resumes over handpicks don't mean nothing if the talent lacks the courage and confidence to FIGHT THE BEST.
CardioMonster answered your question. I wouldn't say PBF is ducking or dodging Cotto. I would say that PBF is putting business and money over competition and even though I am very big PBF I don't like it.

I'm not a 'fan' of either Cotto or Mayweather but the fight which swayed it for me was Cotto vs Mosely.

Mosely had Cotto running in the latter stages, a worrying sign for an aggressive 'come-forward' type fighter.

I also seem to remember thinking that Mosely could have won an easy decision by staying away and boxing, but he stood in front of Cotto for most of the fight.

I dont think Mayweather would do this.

Cotto won't beat Floyd. Cotto has a great chance, probably the best chance out of anyone today but when they face off I am going to double up.

Floyds legacy will suffer from the fact that there are no great welterweights around at the moment.

If Hatton and Cotto are the best boxing has to offer its a pretty sad state of affairs.

These two are nowwhere near people like Hearns, Leonard or a prime De La Hoya.
