Ahead of his fighter's bout on Saturday night in Limerick, trainer and manager Emanuel Steward says that middleweight prospect Andy Lee (14-0, 11KOs) can beat WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29KOs) right now. [details]

i disagree with manny steward, even though he is pictured with me in my signature
lee would beat jermain taylor though
stewards assumption is probably based on lee running **** on taylor at the kronk gym, which is more of an indictment of how sorry taylor is than it is of pavlik beaing beatableComment

andy lee's competition has a 70% win percentage, and only one guy he has fought had a losing record, and andy apologized for fighting him. im not sure any big name guys want to fight andy right now, and that's why he has been fighting lesser known guys. once he is 25-0 he can be ignored, which should be by the end of 2008. i dont know that be beats pavlik right now, cuz he might just be phased by the glitz of the spotlight (i think that effects a lot of guys when the go up to that level quickly) but by the beginning of 2009, for sure.Comment

When I watch Andy Lee fight he reminds me a lot of McClellan but with a South paw stance. Does he remind anyone else of McClellan at all?
I was'nt even looking for it. It kinda jumped out at me. Not quite as savage as McClellan was but his style, his stance, the way he commits when he attacks. I swear he's like a white Southpaw version McClellan.
Though I wonder how much of Lee's power comes from the fact that he's a turn-around righty. When he knocked that black dude (name escapes me)out cold with a right hook I was like "jesus christ", but then I read that Lee is a turn-around fighter like Cotto.Comment

that being said, lee has knocked a number of guys out with his left. his one fight was up on youtube, but it's been taken down, and he drops a guy with a straight left to the gut, then to the sternum. When I watch Andy Lee fight he reminds me a lot of McClellan but with a South paw stance. Lee should fight John Duddy, hes a fairly big name and theyre both Irish, Ireland should be all over that.
plus, personally, I think Lee would do a number on him in a pretty entertaining match.
To be honest, I havent seen much of Lee though. But hell, he spars with Wladimir. gotta be pretty good.Comment
