The saying "The British are coming". It came from Paul Rivare (however you spell the last name.) He shouted that and the revoluntionary war was basically started.

I thought you were talking about Hatton. In any case, the war of independance was a civil war fought on foreign soil, British people fought on both sides, as did the Americans. I dont think anyone lost. It was more of a case of Britain not willing to commit any more resources to a conflict when they had a global empire to maintain.

One may argue that boxing in the USA is not important, but it is...despite itself,Madison Square Garden is known as the 'Mecca of boxing',for a reason.
        And Las Vegas is,well....Vegas.

This is not to say that Calzaghe is not a great champion...but from someone who has only seen him twice, his career seems a lot closer to say,Sven Ottke than Sugar Ray's,Robinson or Leonard.

        Maddison Square Garden

its known as the mecca of Boxing by Americans cause thats whos hyping it is as the Mecca of Boxing

Lennox Lewis gets less recognition than Holyfield & Lewis is a far better fighter ,Holyfield is seen as the Heavyweight of the 90's

thats why i could'nt give **** what American fans think about Zag because u dont get the recognition even when u do succeed unless u happen to be American

This is what I always think. I've never studied it in History all through my school years, GCSE and A-Level. It wasn't especially significant in British History. Britain had an unretainable empire, how can you govern places so far away?.....and I assume tax the ****e out of them.

Although I do feel that at some point every ****er should have relocated somewhere nicer. It's a bit of crap piece of land we are on. haha.

When Calzaghe makes the trip across the atlantic there's goin to be a guy from Philly on a white horse sayin "The British are comin the British are comin, Paul Revere." Once in the ring he'll be wearin his Apollo Creed red white and blue suit on and an uncle sam hat on sayin "I love America."
From an interview with Bernard about the Hatton fight he said that about fightin Calzaghe. http://media.knbr.com/knbr/1204hopkins. mp3
Make sure you take out the space between mp3 and the period. Go Bernard
