    The British are coming?

Hatton comes over. Calzahge coming over. Its a little too late for Calzahge, a good boxer who has fought noone(maybe Kessler). Atleast Clinton Woods has Tarver(soon), RJJ, and Johnson on his resume. I'll respect that all day as oppossed to a pretty 'undefeated' record. Then all the Bristish homers complain about American boxers 'dodging' them and not coming to Britain to fight. Do they not understand that the money is here in the states. They have to accept that the U.S. is where the big money fights are so don't blame fighters for wanting to earn a bigger check.

that's a very glib interpretation of Calzaghe's career. I dont see anyone who Calzaghe could have fought that he didn't.

RJJ, when Calzaghe burst onto the world scene had just moved up to Light Heavyweight. He spent 8 years fighting bums.

Hopkins was fighting at middleweight against much smaller fighters and for some reason, chose to completely miss out the super middleweight division.

Who do you think he should have fought and when?

I believe more than the money,it's the recognition of being an all-time great.Fighting in the states would have given Calzaghe that.
One may argue that boxing in the USA is not important, but it is...despite itself,Madison Square Garden is known as the 'Mecca of boxing',for a reason.
          And Las Vegas is,well....Vegas.

This is not to say that Calzaghe is not a great champion...but from someone who has only seen him twice, his career seems a lot closer to say,Sven Ottke than Sugar Ray's,Robinson or Leonard.

Thats not fair. Sven Ottke's claim to fame is basically receiving decisions for fights that he didn`t win.I think you are just saying this to annoy the Calzaghe fans.

In order to be considered great, you have to have great fighters that you can fight and beat.

I posed this question to the other guy, who should Calzaghe have fought to be considered great?

I mean no harm in comparing Calzaghe with Ottke....
I was comparing them in terms of being mystery men only...not their career accomplishments, just that I never saw Ottke and have only seen Calzaghe versus Lacy and Manfredo.

Yes,from everything I have read about Ottke,he was a joke...which I certainly do not feel Calzaghe is.
