You're right, but he did fight a top 3 Jr. Middleweight in ODLH so I give him a pass on not fighting a top 5 WW.

Yes, he did. He beat Baldo, the Ring Magazine Champion (that means the best in the division) at WW.

Did you just start watching boxing last week?

the definition says "defend your championship" how can you defend your welter weight championship but not fight a top welter or even a welter for that matter..

Floyd has openly turned down fights with the last #1 ranked welter weight and the current #1 ranked welter. then went as far as to say he is retiring. AND he has not defended against ANY of the top ranked welters, which is what you need to do to be considered a champion, according to webster.

Fight the top guys (not make excuses) and defend your championship.

            Thank you Webster
there is no current undisputed welter weight champ. none of the current welters have proven they can beat the others, other than margarito over cintron.

whose the best is still a matter of opinion. cotto/fm could solve that and we may be able to throw pw in the mix if he KOS quintana impressively. if he merely squeaks out a decison as he did vs margarito then he will need to drop down to jr welter and enter the malignaggi, forbes, odh show down for the ages tournament....

true, so then are you saying from that we should extrapolate that pw is the best ww in the world? if not, re-read my first sentencewe, the win was questionable

Don't ALL fighters do that? I thought Cotto was fighting Alfonso when Williams was calling him out. How about that? It happens. Let it go man, Floyd will probably be the first black fighter ever to retire undefeated. That's the one acomplishment he is in a position to do and no fighter ever done that. And he's no German boy who had his whole career tailor made. All his opponents were champions for some reason and THEY were the ones calling him out.

I having a hard time understanding why Williams needs to beat Quintana by KO. Even though he didnt knock out Margorito, Williams still beat him convincingly. That is kinda a double standard IMO.
