Paul Williams is an unproven product......

his only notable win (and it was very questionable) came against Margarito and that ain't saying much.

What win does either fighter PW or AM have against an "A" level fighter?

IMO, Margarito is a B level fighter at best. And the fact that PW and Margarito had so much trouble with each other probably tells us all we need to know about both and that PW had all he could handle and barely got by a "B" fighter.

Who has PW beaten that has earned him a shot at Cotto, Mosley or Mayweather? We've already put the win against Margarito into perspective, Mathysse has been exposed and Mitchell was washed up long ago....

I was at the fight, 5th row and I ain't never been a Margarito fan, see above.

The fight could have EASILY gone either way, and IMO PW didn't do enough to take AM's title.

I agree in the sence that Im not ready to crown him the next king, but to call his win questionable is crazy. He clearly won that fight. The only reason I say he is unproven is because Margarito has yet to impress me. But I think Williams has the talent to be very, very good if he keeps progressing.

LOL you must have been drunk then, because it sure as hell wasn't questionable, he won by at least 4 or 5 rounds.

He clearly won the fight, Margarito won 4 rounds at most, he has the tools to become king at 147, we'll see if he can use them.

He hasn't earned a shot at any of these guys. That's true. But it is also true that he will beat anybody who isn't close to his size. Margarito is limited but he was 5'11, one of the biggest guys at 147. PW proved to the better bigger guy. I'm a Floyd fanBUT even I think that Paul will be too much for Floyd with his high work rate and size advantage. Floyd cannot knock him out and he will have trouble outpointing him.

Cotto? Forget about it, a 5'7 guy isn't gonna hurt or beat a 6'2 guy in any way or form. Williams has proven to have a great chin anyway.

Paul Williams is good as long as he can make weight. Once he starts moving up to middleweight, he will find out what it's like to be the bigger guy all the time, once he goes up against stronger fighters with more natural strength.

They ARE A level fighters. Name 1 welterweight right now that could blow them out.

As a matter of fact, name 1 welterweight that wants to get in there with them.

Watching on TV I also thought Williams won, but by two rounds. However a lot of fans and press at ringside felt that many of Williams' punches were ineffective or blocked and had Margarito winning.

I agree that P Will has only one quality win over Margartio which I thought was a clear win by Williams by the way, but he has the tools to be great. We all know he has advantages in the height and reach department, plus he throws about 100+ punches per round and he's also athletic. I would like to see him up against one of the WW champs or Mosely to see where he really stands in the division, but I don't see too many fighters wanting to take the risk at this point.
