Yo, MaFu MoFo this is a well written Post! Not only do you mention my guys, the ones I grew up watching, and man, you make ALOT of valid points! And lets not forget, these guys fought 15 rounders! I would say the thing with Boxing today, is what it always falls into....POLITICS! Back then Don King was running things, maybe more with the Heavy Weights, but you couldn't put on a boxing show without Don King Promotions getting a piece of the pie. Today EVERYBODY's a promoter....Golden Boy, Top Rank, Main Event, etc,etc....so now it's all about getting paid, so those dream matches don't get materized. De La Hoya is a double edged blade...good for Boxing, but he started the trend. Soon Golden Boy Promotions will Monopolize the Boxing ring, picking up where Don King left off! Top Rank and Golden Boy gotta compromise.....if only DLH wasn't such a greedy bast'd!

The promoters BS is an entirely other thread, you are right about that too.

You are not the only one and is fair to root for any of them as both got a real shot of beating the other.

i agree with the comparisons to a degree and the title, but nothing else really. floyd, skill for skill, is the best fighter i have seen for the past 3 decades, bar none, let alone today. making claims he is ducking fighters is pretty pathetic, saying he is scared of fighters is pretty lame. again, how does he become the best p4p fighter in the world by being afraid and a ducker? he doesn't to answer my question. floyd is the best, and has legendary fighters on his resume but i have never seen a fighter of his calibur recieve so much disrespect like he has in history, it's sad, it's pathetic, it's insubstantial to the highest power. boxing fans like the ones on this forum make it really embarrissing to respresent the sport, and here's another reason why.

Dude, like a said, quick simple comparison. PBF is like Leonard, but Leonard fouhgt the great ones of his time. I believe PBF was bound to become one of the great ones, but his last few matches makes me think hummm...

About the ducking, I said it like it is PW is been ducked by everyone. PBF redirected all the questions made by Marchant after the Hatton fight. He said he was not going to fight in 2 years, and Cotto was not worth it. Then he turns around and accepts to fight Oscar de la Hoya again. What more do you want as evidence??? He even answer one of the questions by talking **** about wanting to fight at England. That's pathetic!!!

I am not a hater, I wish he fights Cotto, or Paul Williams. If he wins both fights he becomes an instant "One of the best ever", until then, as long as he takes on bull**** fights like Baldomir, Hatton and 2nd fight with ODLH, PBF is full of **** and not doing what legends did to be call legends. To talk about a leagcy is one thing, walking the path to accomplish it is an entirely different thing. It will be great for Boxing and for PBF if he takes the challenge and shows he is truely the best, then again, **** ain't going to happen. Sad but true.

Great thread you got here mafu. I think the featherweights of the recent era with marco, eric, pac and marquez is comparable in some way to the WW of the 80's. Put in valero, guzman and juan diaz fighting each other, man that's salivating. The welter weight is becoming a tragi-comedy with margo calling out floyd, cotto calling out floyd, williams calling out cotto, cintron calling out margo and not bothering with williams. Damn, I lost track of who was calling out who. Meanwhile as you said floyd is the sugar ray of this generation but fighting either a bigger fighter at 154 and fighting a bloated 140 champ at 147 and not bothering with the other wekterweight champ because according to him they are nobodies whlie proclaiming himself to be the greatest fighter who ever roamed the earth.

Dude, I agree with you. The featherWeights have been interesting and intense enough with the names you mentioned. Those fighters had put up a great show with each fight, just like the good old 80's. We need to see the young blood fighting the BIG Names before they fade with time. Barrera and Morales are basicly done. Pac and Marquez still have gas on their tanks and should fight the young blood. That will be great for Boxing. Good post to you too.
