John Scully told me that Mike Oliver is the same way. In remote places where there isn't a large boxing fraternity, there are a lot of fighters that aren't in the know as to who are the top fighters nowadays.
I remember reading of Joe Louis towards the end of his career, when his management tried to preserve whatever tolerance of the sport that remained in him by not mentioning boxing or anything like that.Comment

Sugar Ray Robinson hated Boxing, he only did it for the money.
Fighters who go to alot of the fights are.
Wayne McCullough
Jeff Lacy
Mayweather goes to alot of fights, I think more to be seen.(a few years ago he told me, he diden't really follow the sport)

winky wright, roy jones, jeff lacy are some of the few REAL FIGHT FANS that are fighters as well. Floyd mayweather is a fight fan as well but not like winky and lacy. Oscar delahoya doesnt really enjoy fights that much either, when you watch him ringside at fights he's promoting he has a straight face the whole time. He has no emotion. Fight fans have emotion. Taylor may not be interested in other boxers but , he's now interested in fighting for his pride. He fights for himself, much like Miguel Cotto.Comment
