Don't believe the hype, Roy IS shot

You don't even need to have seen the whole trinidad fight, only the knockdowns. Roy lacks a fundamental "skill" every fighter, specially older ones, not very busy fighters should have - the ability to finish up a fighter when you get him hurt. 10 years ago there was NO WAY IN HELL trinidad would have made it 12 after the first kd. If Roy fights a busier fighter who's actually Roy's size, he will lose a UD for workrate alone and even if he gets a KD in, it will just make it closer. Retire Roy. And stay retired.

You haven't seen to man Roy bouts. Plenty of fighters have lasted the full 12 with Roy for the simple fact he wouldn't go for the kill. He rather just show his dominance and go the full 12.

I don't think he's shot, just not what he once was. As Skills said, Jones normally likes to take his opponents the full 12 to show his dominance.

exactly! roy has never went for ko's! he is suited to go 12 and get the ud! while he is obviously not as good as prime, he is not shot by any means!

The Trinidad win flattered RJJ & People are jumping on the bandwagon if Roy fights someone his own size he with a good workrate he will get beaten or worse Ko'd

Trinidad is a 147 pound fighter who has been inactive for how long ,i disagree that Roy would have finished him , Roy fought more cautiously in his prime when is the last time u saw Roy walk his oponent down like he did Tito

Never been a finisher, huh. OK then, explain to me how he went his first 40 fights with only 6 people hearing the final bell? He stopped being a finisher later in life, and this isn't because he wanted to show his dominance, it's because he became a safety first fighter. Almost all the RJJ highlights you see are before he became undisputed LH champ, because then he became a lot less exciting - boring even. He was afraid of being KO'd, partly because of what he saw happen to Gerald Mclellan.

Roy's never been a finisher, that's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard, and sounds to me like most of you only watched him in his later fights.

And the original poster is right, Roy is shot to pieces.

Whoa Roy is shot plzz dont say that he jus not as good as n his prime...u can refer to him as jordan in 2003. Even at 39 roy is still very crafty. Its funny how u guys can say Roy is done but not hopkins who is 43.
