Frankie Randall - 1 hit wonder?

Was this just one of those guys who had what it took to give one legend more trouble than he could deal with, or was he a good fighter who has a record that doesn't show it accurately?

I'd tell you what Randall did to become famous, but I don't want anyone who doesn't know that throwing their input in for this thread. If you don't know that, I can't imagine you know much about the rest of his career.

He was a pretty good fighter in his prime. Most of his losses came at the tail end of his career, he should've stopped fighting around 1999 but kept going.

I saw he lost to Edwin Rosario, which was later avenged, and Freddie Pendleton.

What is the deal with Pendleton? He was barely breaking .500, and he beat him. He also got a shot at Hatton later in his career. Was he an Emanuel Burton/Augustus of sorts back then?

I also heard that the rematch loss to Chavez was pretty controversial, although I don't know how.

Frankie Randall was a difficult fighter to beat in his prime, primarily because of his left hand. Randall ran into some serious drug issues later in his career and by the end of it, he was just used as a punching bag by promoters. Randall badly defaced his career in later years and won't be seen as a Randy Turpin like he should be.

Freddie Pendleton was a fighter whose record doesn't show how good he was.

The rematch loss to Chavez was controversial because it was stopped due to cut caused by a headbutt so they went to the scorecards, the rules state that the fighter who caused the headbutt had to have a point taken away, I believe if that rule wasn't in place, Randall would have gotten a draw.

The thing with that was, the doctor asked Chavez if he could continue and Chavez said no.

Yeah, Randall fought Rosario twice. The first time when Rosario was still in his prime and Randall lost by 1/2 a point.

Randall also beat the hell out of Coggi who was a pretty damn good champ.

He also beat another dude. Ramos I think his name was. THat was a good scrap. Controversial win.

I'm sorry I couldn't give you karma but it's nice to know that great minds think alike.

On the rematch with Chavez, if that doesn't clearly show that the WBC is in Don King's pocket, I don't know what does. Chavez decided to go to the cards when he felt like it, and even still I thought Randall was ahead.
