Sterling this thread is sick. Do you realize that Iran Barkley faced perhaps the toughest competition of any boxer in the past thirty years?

    James Toney
    Roberto Duran
    Tommy Hearns (X 2)
    Michael Nunn
    Nigel Benn
    'Henry Maske

Then add big HWs like Coetzee and Berbick.

To live through that means he has better defense than you seem to think.

      Iran Barkley's best fights:

Barkley KO's Hearns in the third round. Upset of the year 1988.

Barkley vs Duran. Fight of the year 1989. The left hook at 5:20 would've killed a lesser man.

      Barkley vs Olajide. A war.

Barkley wins the IBF SMW title. Brutal left hook.

I would like all of the people that claim that Richard Steal was doing the right thing stopping the JCC-Taylor fight with two seconds left because "Taylor wasn't responding" to check this out. Look at the 7:00 mark of this clip and try to tell me that Tommy Hearns was in any shape to continue or that Steal insisted that he respond adequately like he did to Meldrick Taylor. This just goes to show that Steal was always a ref to protect the house fighter, not the concerned referee he pretended to be.

hey this thread isnt suppose to discredit barkley at all he was a great fighter but he didnt have defence so in my opinion he shouldnet even try teaching so called ADVANCE defense techiques.
At the most i would say he had a great chin like gatti who took alot then gave alot but now look at barkley his defensive skills have ruined him.
