Kelly Pavlik vs. John Duddy in MSG on June 7?

As expected, Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29KOs) first defense of the WBC/WBO middleweight titles will come against undefeated "Irish Johnd Duddy (23-0, 17KOs). The first order of business is the Feb. 16 rematch with Jermain Taylor, taking place at a catch-weight of 166-pounds. Duddy has a tune-up bout scheduled on the Feb. 23 undercard to Wladimir Klitschko and Sultan Ibragimov heavyweight unification in MSG. [details]

You gotta love Kellly Pavlik, here he is scheduled to fight in February and he’s already in talks to schedule another fight 4 months later! This is great for boxing; a champion who’s fights frequently and whose style is ‘crowd pleasing’ to say the least!...

Is it so great that this is signed BEFORE he fights Taylor. Taylor is still dangerous. Why put another opponent in his head?

I think it's premature to talk about his fight after Taylor, it could cause him to lose focus.

Pavlik must have that much confidence in himself. He’s riding a 9 fight KO streak, and has just beaten arguably two of the best mw in the world. Plus, his mw title is not on the line so he doesn’t necessarily have to win this fight…

But I see, your point Kayjay; why think about future fights when you should be concentrating on the task in hand in your next?

Talk about a step down in competition. Pavliks going the mundine route (fighting lesser fighters).

Hes fighting 4 months later, he'll fight 3 times in 08. Thats not to active. And if he loses to taylor, im sure he'll want the third fight immediately. Hopefully that'll replace that june 7th date. Pavlik will destroy duddy.

I don't like this fight. Well, I mean I do, because it's in NY and I can go... but... Duddy? Couldn't we have gotten Abraham to come to the states. The next fight better be against a real opponent.
