Hasim Rahman To Step in, Fight Vladimir Virchis?

Steve Nelson, manager of former two-time WBC heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman (45-6-2, 36KOs), told The Fight Network, that his fighter could very well replace Juan Carlos Gomez in a fight with Vladimir Virchis (24-1, 20KOs) on March 8 in Krefeld, Germany. If he steps in, the fight would be Rahman's first to take place outside of the United States since he knocked out Lennox Lewis to win the heavyweight title in South Africa, in 2001. [details]

Rock is done. I havent seen Virchis fight, but the 20 KOs indicates to me he'll probably knock Rahman out. Lawrence was even stunning him at times.

Considering me and Virchis have the same name, I hope he puts the Rock to sleep.

To think that Rahman has a chance against Virchis is crazy. Rahman struggled immensely against the Taurus Sykes and Zuri Lawrence; his condition’s ****, and his defense is worse….

If Rahman does fight Virchis it should stop all the talk about him ducking fighters like Haye and others because Virchis is a dangerous, underrated fighter. High risk, low reward.

I don't think Rahman can beat him.

I hope this fight happens. It will mean more recognition for Virchis, because he'll have a good name on his resume.

Prediction: Virchis by KO. Go Vladimir!

Low reward? That's a fight for a mandatory position in WBC rankings. The winner is guaranteed a title shot at the WBC titleholder, whoever it's going to be after Maskaev, Peter, and Vitali sort this mess.

Virchis will knock Rahman into the $50 tickets area, he's very strong, although not very technically sound.
