    How good was Dariusz Michalczewski?

I must admitt I haven't seen much of him. So how good was he? Capable of beating Jones?

He was a good fighter, but he wouldnt have a shot against a prime Roy.

Would you say he is better than a prime Glen Johnson? Around that level?

Both RJJ and Darius has to share in the blame for that fight not happening. Neither of them were too enthusiastic about making the fight in truth. He was very good but still shy of good enough to beat a prime RJJ.

He was a strong lightheavyweight whose best punch was a very hard jab. His chin was a little spotty at times, but he was very tough in his prime. Roy would have beaten him, but he still should have fought him. The comparison to Glen Johnson is valid IMO.

Dariusz Michalczewski was the linear light heavyweight champion who unified the light heavyweight titles (WBA, IBF & WBO) by beating Virgil Hill and then dropped them. Roy Jones picked them up but never fought Dariusz.

Most people RJJ beat were also beaten by Michalczewski but they never got to fight each other, probably because Roy didn't want to go to Germany and Michalczewski didn't want to come to the US.
Hard to blame either but while Michalczewski was the 'real' champion, Roy was by far the bigger name. Dariusz could've really proven himself.

When Michalczewski finally lost, he was in his late 30's like Roy.

                  Short HL of "The Tiger".

I don't think he was capable of beating Roy but we will never know because they never fought.

Is it true that he was spooked after watching Roy fight Virgil Hill?

I saw him ringside at the fight, but never heard any official statements about him backing out after this fight.
