Reality check: The first fight was close. Really, it was there for Oscar to win, and there is no explainable reason as to why he didn't press the issue more. He seemingly could have. Only Oscar really knows. This rematch may be an indication that Oscar knows what he did wrong and can correct it (did anyone say jab?). Oscar is only going to get older...but these tuneups beforehand may help give him that little egde he didn't have the first time around.

The first fight wasn't a blowout but that **** a very clear win for PBF. That split decision score was bull****. De la Hoya didn't press the issue because he was missing and getting hit and he was tired. What he did wrong was sign to both fights because he not going to win. De la Hoya doesn't have an edge and he isn't going to get one.

Its not about pressure and De la Hoya was getting hit hard enough (which is all that matters)to discourage him from throwing that jab add that to the fact that he was tired and wasn't recovering from being tired in between rounds **** wasn't looking good for him.

You make a good point,hes gna be active,this could be a good fight,i know for a fact Floyd Sr in DLH's corner is gna make Floyd perform his best,just to show his dad he's better then him,this could bring alot more out of Floyd,and Oscar will be active,he knows he needs to use the jab,and Floyd Sr knows what he needs to do to win,but i think Floyd will win

The 1st fight wasnt the best fight of 07,but it was good,i think people where expecting a war,it wasnt boring,but it wasnt breathtaking neither,im intrested in the rematch,just to see Floyd put a whooping on DLH and show his dad,id rather see Mayweather-Cotto,hopefully that will come next

I think floyd sr. is right in saying the fans and media will make it appear as father vs. brother or father vs. son.

i think its going to be a very good fight.

for all we know maybe floyd sr. was right the first time in saying he's the key to beating floyd jr.

we wont know for sure until september and personally im looking forward to it. big time.

i looked forward to their first fight and grew more anxious as the days counted down and im sure this wont be an exception.

despite what the popular vote is on here i think the rematch is going to be good and the build up will be just as big (if not bigger) like last time.

as soon as the scorecards were read in vegas and seeing it only be a close split decision i knew there would likely be a rematch and here it is.

it might do great numbers again...at first i wasnt sure but since oscar says he will have 3 fights (and that being his second to last fight) it might come close to the record they set a year ago but i dont see it exceeding that mark.

to be honest (despite who you are rooting for) i think an oscar win is the best thing for boxing.

why?

it would set up an epically HUGE 3rd fight. a trilogy.

so instead of oscar's last fight being a "tribute to the fans" in december it would be better...one of the biggest fights in the last 25 years of the sport.

either way; regardless of who wins i want to see this fight again.

i was one of the few who enjoyed their first fight. i thought it was interesting to see how each fighter was going to try and push their style of fighting on the other and i thought it was a pretty interesting fight.
