Oscar average opponent 34 wins 3 losses
(although he did lose 5 times this is one of the best averages Ive seen so far)
Marg average opponent 21 wins 4 losses
(this is a bit misleading because he fought someone with 179 wins)

If they both retired today, history would agree with your sentiment. Now, if they fought today Margarito eats that ass up. Oscar would get brutalized for 12 rounds. It would be like SRL vs Terry Norris... Old guy just cant beat the younger stronger, fresher guy down the stretch. Let me repeat for the ignorant here... It would be a 12 round beating. Oscar will NEVER take this fight... Kudos if he does... He wont see Mayweather in the fall...

I cant tell the future but Oscar DOES have the better resume & credentials.

Nobody could argue that. Not even close. But Margarito is at his peak and Oscar is on the downslide. He's only going to get worse with age and inactivity. Margarito is a bad style for Oscar and he is smart enough to know that.

I didnt think about it that way but you are right it is an insult to Oscar to compare him with Margarito. But I was just asking a question. I pray to the boxing Gods for forgiveness.

Oscar clearly has the better resume, he is the superstar here.

However:

I also think Margarito would have a very good shot at Beating Oscar right now.

It would be something like Oscar vs Vargas except in this one Vargas doesn't have as weak a chin, is well conditioned, doesn't wait on Oscar to tee off, , constantly mauls him and is technically sound.

Oscar simply can't deal with guys like that, hell he practiced on how to be more physical with Freddie and he couldn't do it in training and obviously couldn't do it against Floyd.

Plus you guys have to remember Oscar is an Older semi-retired fighter that fights at his convenience. The fact that Floyd had a hard time with him is a negative on Floyd not a Positive on Oscar, who still lost despite seemingly having a small fighter freezing in front of him like a deer looking at a pair of headlights as they come closer.
