Personally I can't see anyone beating a prime Roy at 160. He would UD Hagler over 12 or 15, when did you see Roy gas? He couldn't KO hagler because of Hagler VERY underrated defense and one hell of a chin. Roy is just TOO fast, TOO fast, TOO fast. Roy's speed would be a problem for anyone in any era..............ever (unless humans become superhuman).
in thier prime Roy Jones JR v Marvin Hagler

Dude, the thing about a prime Roy...he was fast, and no one ever tapped that chin of his,and he certainly never put himself on the line very much.
Looking at his list of opponents, you must admit there was not too much iron there.
At least not compared to Marvin's resume...
I believe a prime Marvin walks down and thru a prime Roy...and taps that chin which we now know was less than iron.
We know that Marvin was made of iron from head to toe...
Marvin knocks him out inside of 12...

Hagler struggled with Duran who was a natural 135 pounder and with Ray Leonard who was coming off a 4 year layoff. Prime Roy Jones is 10 times faster then 1987 Ray Leonard with a lot more stamina and power.
In my opinion Ray Leonard isnt even all that quick in 1987 and he was able to make Hagler miss a lot in that fight. Leonard's prime was 1978 thru 1982.
Also keep in mind Roy was 35 years old in 2004 when he lost. If you want to count that, then you also got to count Ray Leonard getting knocked out by Camacho. To me thats more embarassingLast edited by RayLeonard82; 01-21-2008, 06:51 PM.Comment

Hagler was not the fastest middleweight ever, but he was a very solid and skilled boxer, was a southpaw, knew how to fight pressing the action as well as boxing in retreat, had great stamina, and a chin that never let him down even against one of the deadliest punchers ever, Thomas Hearns.
Jones in his prime was a freak with good power, incredible speed, footwork, and his unorthodox style made him impossible to "read". Prime Jones was never hurt and overwhelmed fellow middleweights quite easily.
Still, I can't see Hagler losing in his prime at 160. I see him fighting in "Terminator" mode pressing the action, like Tarver did, but being more effective and aggressive due to his outstanding chin. Hagler by decision.Comment

If Ray Leonard coming off a 4 year layoff can outbox Hagler, what do you think would happen if Hagler fought 1994 Roy Jones.
He would have made Hagler look like James Toney. Hagler wouldn't be able to touch him.Comment
