    It's funny.

    Ali
    Foreman
    Robinson
    Leonard
    Hearns
    Hagler
    Duran
    Hopkins
    RJJ
    Toney
    McCallum

I could go on and on. They all lost fights. I guess in this day in age you have to be undefeated to amount to anything. Play by the script and choose the path of least resistance is the way to go now for today's fans. ****ing fanboy groupies!

Sorry but real fighters take real challenges, some lose and learn by them and come back stronger. Margarito will give any welterweight fits in the ring. He may not win them all, but if you think he is a cakewalk, talk to Mayweather. If he was a cakewalk, Mayweather would have fought him for sure.

Comparing a B level fighter like Margarito to those guys is an insult. And even the the rhetric of Floyd fighting nobodies, cherry picking easy opponents sounds nice and convinient, that is not true.

He is already one of the all-time great's and you don't get that by fighting nobodies. But if that feels the haters better, spinning things to fit their arguement.........so be it.

I never said he was a great fighter. But he shares something with the list I gave. He is willing to go in the ring and mix it up with anyone. He is a tough SOB and will give anyone a fight. Floyd knows this also, that is why he stayed away. Even if Floyd won, he would be pissing blood for a week.

Floyd has decided to take the path of least resistance, and unless you are a LOVER, you have to see that. See I am a fan of the sport, not a fanboy of any fighter. I give my respect to guys who go in there and give their all and dedicate themselves to the fans and the sport. The rest is just fluff.

You can believe whatever you choose to believe, but the history and logic is all there in big print. You can chase after all the alphabet titles you want in some distorted view of what defines greatness, but if you do not fight the best, you are just another one to be forgotten.

My response to that. Post # 29. I believe it covers everything. No time to type up another long response to nonspecific rhetoric of a fan generalizing what great fighters should and shouldn't do.

I respect that post. I will add though, Mayweather will Never fight Cotto for the same reason he never fought Margarito.

A fight with Cotto will never happen. He is just too risky and Floyd knows it.

I see Cotto fans harping all the time calling out Mayweather fans and trying to create buzz for the fight. They are wasting their time. Mayweather will not even mention Cotto's name as a possible opponent, he avoids the subject.

History dictates what a great fighter should do. Fight the best available.

That's kind of unfair. Prejudging him like that. You're asking him to do great thing but not giving him the benefit of the doubt until their upcoming fights are cleared.

The only way I see him not fighting Cotto is if Cotto losses. And surely nobody would blame him for not fighting Cotto after a loss. After all the **** people been giving him for fighting former Undisputed Champ Judah despite the fact that Cotto fought the same guy 17 months later and 2 losses later.

Is Margarito a great fighter? Does he do anything for Floyd's legacy or is a Margarito victory just somthing that shuts a few people up temporary until they make up a new Most feared fighter?

I believe Cotto has a greater credibility in that same regard right now then did Margarito back then. This is one challange Floyd can't back down from if Cotto remains unbeaten by the end of the year. If Cotto beats the Cintron/Margarito winner, then he has beaten everybody and done everything asked of him. That's no hype.

Margarito was all hype, Paul Williams proved that. I can't make it any simpler then that.
Williams won a close decision over AM. He didn't leave him laying there. Now Margarito has to go through Cintron and Cotto. There will be no excuse for Floyd ducking the winner of that series. Well, no good excuse at least.
