My Main Concern For Roy Jones

Did you guys notice how RJJ stood there on the ropes and allowed Tito to keep hitting him early in the fight yesterday. Without even throwing punches back. He did the same against Tarver and Glen Johnson.

Because someone like Calzaghe would land a few clean shots and simply stop RJJ.

      Yeh agree.

But can't see why he leaves himself open like that. Well his hands are up so hes not exactly leaving himself open. But he doesn't punch. So his opponent can tee off.

Against Calzaghe this would spell disaster.

Well someone like Calzaghe aint gonna punch himself out. And hes going to land a lot of shots flush. If he could hurt Kessler, i think he could hurt RJJ.

tito was punching with quite a bit of power last night. He doesnt hit as hard as calzaghe but calzaghe never seems to sit down on his punches like tito does so his flurries wouldnt bother jones on the ropes. Thats just his way of fighting now. He wants to see how much power the guy really has early on. Jones seemed to be able to take aton of punishment to the body, elbows and arms. He took a few flush left hooks to from tito, I'd say he would do fairly well against calzaghe and if he can be 75 - 25 offense and not 50-50 offense. I give him a decent chance.

Why can't Calzaghe wear Grant Gloves if his hands are that brittle. I noticed in his fight with Kessler, he was wearing Everlast.

You are exactly right and that will eventually be Roys downfall.

That is a really good question, are they really that much better for the knuckles?

That's exactly wrong. Roy was in the ring with a naturally much smaller guy last night. Roy knew that. Roy knew that tito was not going to hurt him. So instead of wasting energy trying to duck and weave or counter he just put his hands up and let tito punch knowing tito wasnt going to carry much power at that weight. Against a calzaghe I think you would see alot more countering from jones, probably one of his best attributes. Calzaghe throws alot which means he is going to be open all night for roy jones jr's fast hands.
