Cotto has a good following in his own right but nothing compared to Hatton. I would see Floyd/Cotto doing in the high 700 to low 800k range and that is with ALOT of hype surrounding it.

You have to add in the fact that people are going to recognize that Cotto is more than a live underdog and if Floyd continues on with his trash-talking ways, which I see no reason why he wouldn't, that HBO is going to sell this as Cotto being the man to physically punish Mayweather in a way that they couldn't with Hatton.

Still wouldn't outsell Hatton-Floyd. Hatton, IMO, is a much bigger name than Cotto is at this point and time. However Cotto's fanbase is only growing and by the end of the year Ctto may be getting into the limelight.

Cotto is a good figher and he's been one of HBO's trademark fighters since at least 04.

Being a good fighter doesn't mean you can sell ppv's. You can ask Roy Jones about that.

Miguell Cotto's fights can in general be more universally appreciated than Jones'.

Of course the worldwide PPV numbers might be bigger for Hatton, but you add in 24/7 for Cotto/Mayweather and place the fight at The Garden. You have more than a mega-fight. It's a full-blown event.

Puerto Ricans AND a good number of casual fans alike are going to give the edge toward Miguel because of is KO of Judah and victory over Mosley. He's for real.
In Hatton, I think only British people truly thought he could win the fight and even they weren't sure. More just hoping.

Look at how HBO built it too look like Hatton would be a big test for Mayweather. They wouldn't even have to try because Miguel Cotto is a big test. And the fact that Mayweather closed the show and knocked out Hatton raised Floyds stock tremendously and only adds to the reason this fight would be bigger.

look how many good fights he's been in since being with HBO

                Torres
                Quintana
                Abdulaev
                Pinto
                Malignaggi
                Corley
                Branco

basically all of his fights. The worst fight he's had was probably against Mosely on pay-per-view

Look my friend I am not slagging Cotto, personally I feel he is the future and along with some few others will carry this sport when the time comes. That being said RIGHT NOW Cotto is not a commodity when it comes to selling a ppv. He had Mosley with him and they still sold around the 330k mark. If Cotto Marg sells more than Cotto Mosley I will truly believe Cotto is making strides towards superstardom but if that **** flops like Cotto-Judah than I can't see Cotto selling anywhere near a Hatton/Floyd bout did.

Whoa. Dude. PBF vs. Cotto will draw more attention, money and fans than the fight with Hatton. Imagine the whole latino community in all America tuning it for this fight. In the Island, you will never get HUGE NUMBERS b/c of the stolen signals and parties of over 40 people per 1/2 squared mile. Every single TV set in the Island will be tuning the fight. Add all those Boricuas in all around the United States, the Mexicans, The Dominicans, and the rest of the World of Boxing watching the fight. You know why Everyone Will Buy This Fight... CAUSE EVERYONE WANTS TO SEE GAYWEATHER GOING DOWN FOR THE 10 SEC COUNT. I will even go as far as stating that PBF knows he needs a Latino Star to break the 1 million PPV's like he did with De La Hoya. Cotto can bring that big amount of payers. PBF just knows his ass is more secured agaisnt ODLH.
