I only saw that fight once when it was live. Maybe my memory of it was better than the fight. I know Kid Akeem had serious injuries from that fight and his career was over. Both of those guys died early violent deaths if I'm not mistaken.

Anifowoshe died from his brain injury in 1994.

Quiroga was stabbed to death in 2004.

Kid Akeem developed a blood clot and collapsed right after the decision, he had successful surgery to remove the clot but died a few years later because of injuries sustained in the fight.

Quiroga got murdered in 2004.

I saw it live as well and watched it a few times since but not for at least 12 years. I still have it somewhere on video. One of the most brutal fights I ever saw but then like you said maybe my memories are greater than the actual fight.

Dwiens it does surprise me you're not that impressed by this fight.

Not impressed only because it WAS a Fight of the Year.

Holyfield-Tyson was a great fight, but it isn't very good CONSIDERING it is a FOTY.

Give me Robinson-Gatti or Castillo-Corrales way before you give me Quiroga-Anifowoshe.
