Taylor vs Hopkins could've been the most boring trilogy ever. People should thank the judges for not making that happen.

Neither threw many. Hopkins landed more punches in both fights, Taylor threw a little more in both fights.
They were both very close fights and I was never upset with the decision because I felt Hopkins should have and could have done more to win decisively, but obviously didn't. I felt the first match Taylor didn't do anything to TAKE away the belt from Hopkins and nearly got KO'd himself, the 2nd fight I was like whatever.Comment

This is a moot point. It doesn't make any sense that the challenger has to blow the champion out to win the belt. It's a boxing match. If he wins more rounds he gets the belt. The benefit of the doubt goes to the champion in the case of a draw. They keep the belt, even though they didn't win.Neither threw many. It is ridiculous to give a gift decision to the champion just because he is the champion.
Hopkins made up a lot of ground in punchstats in the final four rounds in the first fight. The overall momentum of the fight ended in Hopkins's favor, but if you judge it round-by-round, then I think Taylor gets it. Hopkins didn't try to win enough of the rounds. You'd think a veteran fighter would know how many rounds it takes to win a decision.Comment

Whoever said this was boring compared to hype ratio is spot on. The hype for both of these fights was tremendous, and was an awesome build-up. Fist one, young lion trying to defeat aged lion with youth over wisdom, and the weigh-in was a spark too. 2nd fight, Hopkins was calm as **** throughout the press tour, in his own words "not being an *******" and had everyone thinking he was about to score a kayo, PLUS coming out in the Ex mask for the first time in a long time.
Then came fight night...Comment

Go back. Read that I said I originally scored it a draw. (also meaning Taylor didn't do enough to take the belt, didn't win the majority of rounds, etc.).This is a moot point. I can imagine that people were actually on the edge of their seats on fight night, just because it was such a monumental event, but the rewatch value is atrociously bad.Whoever said this was boring compared to hype ratio is spot on. Yep, that's spot on. Both fights I was very tense watching it, but have absolutely no desire to re-watch either.Comment
