Ha gotta love James Toney interviews, one of the true all time greats. Heres the interview from B-Talk, thanks to "lilwettongue"
JT: "He'd be a good stepping stone. He's perfect. It's like this I'll fight anybody, anywhere, anytime, that's my motto and it doesn't matter who the opposition is. I've never been one to take no easy fights. For me to fight a tune-up fight I have to be motivated and I would be motivated with Jirov because he's been talking a lot of **** like Jameel McCline, the big six foot seven ***got. He runs his mouth saying he wants to fight me, but they ain't trying to call me. They know the number they can call."
GL: Who do you like in the Ibragimov-Klitschko fight?
JT: "Neither one. They both suck. GL: No prediction for the fight?
JT: "Hell no. I'm not even going watch the fight. Klitschko should knock the bum out, but it's a battle of bums. Who's the better bum?
GL: So you don't think heavyweight unification is a good thing?
JT: "Man, the road to the heavyweight title still goes through me. None of these heavyweights have beaten James Toney or can run through me. The fans know that I'm the only legitimate fighter out there at heavyweight. I beat the **** out of Samuel Peter the first time, I beat him the second time and he was running for the last six rounds. How is a big man going to run from a small man? Come on man! Stop giving these clowns credit. I took it all out of Samuel Peter and it showed when he fought McCline.
GL: What kind of shape are you in right now?
JT: "I'm in great shape, I can fight 15 rounds right now."
GL: What did you think about Mayweather-Hatton?
JT: "I told you Floyd was going to knock that bum out. Every fighter that ever comes from over there ends up getting their world rocked."
GL: So you like Hopkins over Calzaghe?
JT: "Absolutely. Hopkins is going to mop the floor with him. Calzaghe is an overrated bum. He's talked **** about me about a year ago and I didn't forget about it. He's lucky I wasn't in Vegas when he was talking smack with Bernard. But the guy is all hype."
GL: A hot topic in boxing has been Mayweather and should he fight Miguel Cotto. Do you think Cotto has a chance over Mayweather?
JT: "If Mayweather doesn't show up he's got a chance. Cotto is a good fighter. I didn't like him at first, but after Zab Judah and Shane Mosley he showed that he got some skills, but not enough to mess with Floyd. Floyd would do him the same way he did Hatton. Floyd can fight inside and outside. He fights like James Toney. I created that style. Not his daddy, I did."
