Calzaghe overstayed his welcome at supper-middleweight defending that WBO title until finally people started noticing him more for his number of title defenses instead of who he has actually beaten.

He has 2 good names on his resume in Lacy and Kessler........great wins btw.

But for these Calzaghe fanatics to get on his bandwagon and suggest that he is unbeateable and that Hopkins has no chance in hell of winning is absurd.

They're in for a shock and a reality check if they really think that.

Yeah I don't see why. People give **** to Jones for not fighting Dariusz Michalczewski, when he got battered by Richard Hall after Jones beat Hall soundly.

Sven Ottke was the IBF champion and sure he had some gift decisions, but Calzaghe should have fought him.

        That and Glen Johnson.

He has never fought outside the UK (except for one fight in germany)... Other fighters do what they have to make the big fights. Calzaghe never has. He has resorted to fighting the likes of Peter Manfredo. I'm not saying he's not great... I'm just saying his resume opens the door to that question.
He doesn't need to fight outside the UK.

Two good names? Can you count?

You do realize that Sven Ottke did everything short of changing his name to avoid fighting anyone even close to mediocre, right?

What do you think he did when Joe Calzaghe called up?

Sven Ottke avoided Calzaghe like the ****ing plague, and if Johnson beats Dawson I'm pretty positive we'll see a Calzaghe/Johnson fight within the next 12 months.

He doesn't "need" to, but is it that big of a problem if he doesn't and fights in the US insted? I mean I'd assume it'd be better for Calzaghe to fight in the US then in the UK.

I mean he doesn't have to go and fight at 2 AM like he would in Wales because of the US people covering the fight. He'd have more time to adjust and get used to the US timezone then he'd be able to get used to be able to fight at 2 am in the morning.

He'd still have the fans on his side, since I'm damn sure people would come over for him like they did Hatton. Plus it gives him more bargining chips if he wants to make a hometown defense against a bigger US star like Pavlik because it shuts the people up who say "Well he has to come over to America because they have the better fighters"

He might as well get it out of the way and it's not that bad to fight in the US like some people say it is. Manny Pacquiao does it. Miguel Cotto does it. Lennox Lewis did it. Hell Ricky Hatton does it and I'm sure Amir Kahn will do it too.

Like I said, it's not a disadvantage to fight in the states so I'm not sure why it's such a big deal about people not wanting him too.

Can you think of a more live opponent at LHW?

If he fought RJJ and beat him convincingly he wouldn't get any credit whatsoever, and who's Clinton Woods in the States?

I hate to say it, but he's gonna have to fight who the Americans want him to fight.
